"Decent accommodation, convenient Berkeley location"
Two-night stay (two rooms) in March 2015 went smoothly enough, in terms of check-in and check-out. We did not have need for much interaction with staff, but they were pleasant enough, although the front desk person was not terribly helpful for recommending a restaurant.for a late-night dinner. The $1.50 per night charge for the room safe, eventhough it was never used, seemed tacky. There were renovations in progress, especially around the office area. This perhaps affected the breakfast offerings, which were meager at best. Rooms were comfortable though a bit on the small side (especially the bathroom), but with acceptable amenities (small refrigerator, flat-screen TV with free HBO). The main complaint was that the rooms are in need of better upkeep (although I've seen far worse). Carpets and upholstery on chairs appeared soiled and had visible stains. The bathroom towels were dingy looking and coarse. And the floor in the second floor room literally had several soft spots that sagged appreciably when stepped on (rotting floorboards?).

Pocket Guide: Oakland Berkeley 2 stars Wyndham Worldwide Hotels

The city’s radical spirit has endured at least on Telegraph Avenue by the UC Berkeley campus. Upscale shops have moved into the once industrial Fourth Street district. Foodies flock to the Gourmet Ghetto, which began in the 1970s with Chez Panisse. Berkeley Hills’ residents enjoy bay views and access to Tilden Park’s 2,000 acres. Visitors to the marina can stroll on the pier and explore the parks.
