Only stayed here for 1 night but it was an awesome place to stay in. Location was great to get around north London and only a short taxi to King's Cross St Pancras international and domestic rail station. 7/8 minutes to caladonian rd tube station and right on a main bus thoroughfare. Room was surprisingly large as we only paid about 60pounds for a 3 bed room. Beds were super comfy with all the amenities and fast free wifi. excellent free breakfast with wait staff friendly and helpful. We turned up about 3 hours early before check in and the staff could not be anymore accommodating with getting us into a room so we can head off to a tour. Do not think twice about booking this hotel for the price alone

Where do I start? We booked a night for a family do nearby, a good night's sleep would prepare us for a hectic day. Our early evening arrival was greeted with locked doors and noone answering the bell. In the end we called the hotel number to be answered by a less than welcoming voice. She reluctantly gave us the code to get in and then talked us through the check-in procedure - not sure I've ever checked myself in before, but there's a first time for everything. Our room was actually ok - except for the curtains which didn't work. We resorted to safety pins to keep them drawn so we could get some privacy from the outside world. The room supposedly had free wifi. Great, we thought. sadly not as we had no key, so no internet access. At least the TV worked! We had booked bed AND breakfast. We should have guessed. We scoured the building for breakfast, but nothing. And nobody. Rather like the Marie Celeste the building was deserted. My partner called the hotel number again to be told that the management were out of the country, she was the caretaker and wasn't expecting to provide us with the breakfast we had paid for. To top all of this, the sign in the grounds outside the front of the hotel clearly shows 4 AA stars. I do have a vague understanding of the star ratings used by such as the AA and really don't think that the Gatwick Inn passes muster. Perhaps somebody has a mischevious sense of humour, but we didn't see the joke. I should add the bathroom was nice!

Large comfortable room. Nothing fancy, just basic mostly, but the hotel fits a desirable niche for those looking for a good value in a standard room. There was tea/coffee service in room along with small fridge and TV. In addition there were super markets and small shops in area. Rail station is in walking distance and bus stops almost at front door. Food in restaurant is superior to most of the nearby chain Inns. Not a luxury site, but adequate in all respects.
