We spent just two nights here but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Included in the Expedia rate was free boat transfer to/from the Koh Samed. We were met at the pier and our luggage was carted there while we walked just two minutes to the hotel. Although it is on the sea and has a small sandy beach, we were advised to swim on another side of the island. The views were great and we actually relaxed in/near the pool for a while. The restaurant next door was also very good, especially breakfast.

"Fantastic hotel, a little rough around the edges"
This is a great hotel & for the money I think it's got to be the best on the island. It's on the north side of the island & has it's on section of beach which is very quiet & the hotel restaurant is literally on the beach making it a lovely place to eat or have a cocktail at happy hour. The south side of the island has a much larger but busier beach & there are also a number of much more expensive hotels elsewhere on the island that have more private sections of beach but you pay a lot more for them.
There are a few other hotels & bars along the north side which have bars & restaurants too which are in easy walking distance of the hotel & have a great relaxed atmosphere & much cheaper food. Overall for what we were looking for i.e. a relaxed couples holiday with a quiet beach & a few cocktails in the evening I couldn't fault it. The only very slight negative was the apartment was a little rough around the edges, nothing serious mainly the floor was concrete & badly painted plus the lights only seemed to work when they felt like it, also the water ran brown for quite some time, I guess it was rusty pipes but we certainly didn't bother using the kettle as there was no way we were drinking it even boiled. The bed was comfy & clean though & from outside the hut looked idyllic so the negatives in no way spoiled our enjoyment.

The hotel has its own beach with crystal-clear water. The rooms (little bungalows) are facing directly the sea and give the stay a very private feel (perfect for couples). The hotel's Italian restaurant prepares excellent pizza in an authentic wood-fired stone oven. This is paradise for sure!

"Excellent hotel, perfect for a peaceful vacation"
Before going to Sai Kaew Beach Resort, I read a lot of reviews and they were quite diverse so I was a bit sceptic before arriving. Getting there from Ban Phe was super easy, we tried the speedboat on the way there, but the ferry transportation is also well organized by the hotel.
We stayed in a Premier Seaside room and it was perfect. It is next to a quiet pool, facing the see which is 1 minute away. However when we walked around the resort, we saw the bungalows, and I can understand that some guests were disappointed with those. Some of them are really far or next to huge concrete walls. The premier rooms are well located, with really clean and modern enterior, with your own terrace, so we were really happy with our choice. The room was clean, and the daily clening service was also really good.
I was satisfied with the hotel's other services. I tried the wellness center for a massage, and we had some meals in the hotel's restaurant as well. Usually I go for more authentic places to eat, not prefer the hotel's restaurant, but this was nice. The play lounge music, you can sit on the terrace, they have both thai and western food.
The seaside is beatiful, the best beach of Koh Samed. I recommend this resort for your stay. However Koh Samed is quite small, no nightlife or bars. The streets are dirty and smelly, lots of stray dogs. Stepping out from the resort is like being in a different world. It is a nice hotel in a undeveloped area, don't expect too much from Koh Samed.

Beach was a let down .needs cleaning up .lots of debris - bottles, plastic ,polystyrene etc
Don't stay in the old wing - not shown in the brochure . It is very tired . The small extra charge for the newer main hotel is well worth it .
