The adjoining resorts of Qawra and Bugibba are set on the large St Pauls Bay, where St Paul was allegedly shipwrecked. Both resorts were purpose-built in the 1980s. Bugibba has a small square, shops, bars, budget restaurants, nightclubs and a small harbour from which several pleasure boat excursions run. Swimming and water sports take place off the promenade and at lidos. Activities in Qawra tend to be hotel-based.
