"Great hotel near the airport"
We stayed here for our last night in Costa Rica so that we would be close to the airport. The staff is friendly and helpful. They were very sweet to our little kids, giving them balloons and coloring materials. I requested a portable crib at reception and they brought it up (all set up and made up with sheets and blankets) in a few minutes. The room was spacious and clean with a microwave and fridge. Free wifi all over the hotel plus a business office to print boarding passes, etc. The breakfast downstairs was quite good. My expectations for hotel breakfasts aren't very high so we thought we would leave for breakfast. We checked it out and were pleasantly surprised to see they had scrambled eggs (good fluffy kind), bacon (thick), tamales (amazing!), rice and beans, fresh fruit (perfectly ripe) plus the typical make your own waffle, cereal, yogurts, oatmeal, bagels and breads. Great place. Highly recommend. Couldn't beat the price of 122.00 for one night including the breakfast for my whole family.

Pocket Guide: San Jose Alajuela 3 stars Hilton Worldwide Hotels

The city of Alajuela is in Alajuela province, 20 km (13 mi) northwest of San Jose and just 3 km (2 mi) north of Juan Santamaria International Airport. Many visitors to Costa Rica stay here on their way in and out the country. Colonial architecture is still evident in the city center. The central market, covering an entire city block, is a great place to buy souvenirs.
