This hotel is family-owned and the people are extremely helpful and speak English. They asked us what we wanted for breakfast (included) and the portions were more than generous. Impeccable service. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. Did not use the pool but the view is beautiful. The lodge offers reasonably priced tours to choose from if desired. Payment by credit card is available.
However, Wi-Fi coverage is restricted (cabins 1 and 2 get NO coverage at all). Therefore, try to get one that is closer ti the kitchens.
Also, the hotel is slightly hard to find (look for Cerro Chato Ecolodge instead and drive 200 feet more over an unpaved road to find it).

Our room was perfect with a great view of Volcan Arenal. Each "room" is actually an individual cabin with a large bedroom/living area and large bathroom. The whole facility is beautifully landscaped with luscious plants of all sizes and colors everywhere you look. The staff was always available, helpful, and knowledgeable. There is a lot to do in the area. We hiked the trails around the most recent lava flow, went horse back riding (more fun than I expected!), experienced guided nature tours including the high canopy hanging bridges and early morning bird watching, and twice took advantage of a local thermal hot springs spas and a convenient poolside bar. With four cameras going, we probably took close to 1000 photos here.

"Quiet hotel with excellent view over Lake Arenal."
Like the hotel for its quietness and good location. Also the food is excellent and and well thought through for its ingredients. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is no TV but you can get internet in the rooms though very slow.
Take a short walk to the zoga platform and take time relaxing in the hammocks.
Also go a little bit further and see the giantic Ceiba tree. To get there is a little tiresome but well worth it.
Villas Vilma is a nice place located just outside La Fortuna, in the direction of the Arenal Volcano and all the main attractions. Stayed there only 2 nights, and arrived without any sightseeing arrangements. The family who runs the place (sister and brother, I believe) was very helpful in making recommendations for things to see in the area, making same-day reservations for us for a tour of the Hanging Bridges in the Jungle, helping us find transportation to our next destination, and recommending restaurants. The place looks nice - as others said, bungalows with a hammock and a coffee table + love seat on a small patio. The indoors is not much to brag about - but it's simple, clean, and has air conditioned. The wifi worked well (and it's free). The pool and hot tub were nice looking, but there are a lot of bushes around so we always found leaves, flowers (and some bugs) floating around. Not a big deal but it made it look unkempt a bit although I saw someone cleaning it daily. The breakfast was simple but freshly cooked (coffee, orange juice, gallo pinto, peanut butter and jam, and eggs) - good way to start the day.

The front desk and kitchen staff are incredible and always willing to help in every way to make your stay a great one. I booked all my tours through the hotel and they did not disappoint. The rooms were cleaned every day.
