The hotel staff is the best ! If any problems, they take care of them . They go beyond there duties in being helpful. The bus is just across the street to get to the subway so location is good. Every thing you need is close by.

My cousin and I stayed at this hotel for two nights and thought it the highlight of all the hotels we stayed in in China. Truth be told, we stayed in some pretty rough dives in Henan Province mostly with cigarette burned carpets and telephone calls from hotel hookers. This place is the Taj Mahal.

Very positive experience: Everyone in the hotel was very nice - the front desk staff, the breakfast team and the housekeeping crew. Next time I come to Beijing, I will definitely stay in Double Happiness again. I wouldn't pick another hotel.

It was wonderful to return to the peace of the Spring Garden Courtyard Hotel after a busy day amid the crowds, dust and noise of Beijing. The staff were always friendly and exceptionally helpful. They were happy to book taxis, call restaurants and answer queries. The 500-year-old courtyard house is quite beautiful and reminds one of how much has been lost in a city ravaged by ring roads, tower blocks and seemingly endless construction sites.

About a 15minute walk from Jishuitan subway, Michael's house is a comfortable courtyard inn tucked into a quiet side street in a neighborhood bustling with evening foot traffic, street food from carts to produce markets to sidewalk restaurants, 24 hour convenience stores, etc. Don't miss the greenway park (folk dance groups are sometimes gathered in the pavilions in the evening) or the egg crepe cart. The latter is important. About 9pm you should find them on the corner of Xinjiekou Outer St. And Wenhuiyuan Rd., 5min from Michael's, on your way to the metro. Earlier in the evening they'll be a few steps farther north by the pedestrian overpass. Point to the griddle and they will do the rest. You're welcome.
Michael's House staff are friendly and helpful, and can give you anything from directions and general advice to reservations for day trips or shows. Buffet breakfast in the courtyard is a great start to every morning. Mostly western fare with local pastry items to keep it interesting. Our room was extremely comfortable, equipped with fridge, hair dryer, super fast electric kettle, safe, wireless, basically everything we could think of to need.

We stayed for 5 days during June and found the hotel very relaxing and restful. Staying here was like staying in someones home with your own room. The courtyard is a very pleasant place to sit and read or have your breakfast. Breakfast if required is basic but fine to get you going of a morning. The bed was ok to sleep on and not to hard. Bathroom is quite small but always had hot water available. This hotel is reached from the main road by alleyways so it is best to have a map and address in Chinese. This is in a very safe neighborhood with plenty of local people, young and old who always seem to be socialising amongst themselves as this is a living neighborhood. In the future hutongs may slowly disappear so experience one when you can. The Metro line is only 5 minutes away, and from there Beijing is your oyster.

"Great family hotel in the midst of the old hutongs"
We loved the personal, friendly attention of the staff especially to the children, and the inclusion of breakfast in the price of the hotel. Also, they accommodated us with better rooms when the facility we had requested was already filled when we arrived late because of an airline delay. The family atmosphere, fruit in the lobby at all times, concerts in the evening on traditional instruments, along with a tea ceremony and the old world atmosphere was just what we were looking for.

This room was a great deal! The rooms were larger then I expected and the beds were really comfortable. The hotel was located on "bar" street so there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. During the stay, the staff spoke great english and were very helpful with directions. The only catch is that the hotel is not too near a subway station. As long as you figure out other transportation or walk you are fine!
