"Very nice resort"
The Resort was great. The only point I want to note for others is that the "all inclusive" package did not include transportation from the airport to the resort. It was an omission that could have consumed a whole day.

Belizean Shores Resort

Ambergris Caye, San Pedro - Map
"Loved our 1st visit to Belize - we will be back!"
We had a lovely experience at Belizean Shores. Our unit 4-1 was ground floor close to the pool. It was clean and comfortable, and just steps from the pool and the beach. Although technically we did not have an ocean view, we could indeed see the ocean. I was especially impressed by the generosity of the kayaks, paddle board, $5 per day bike rentals, no prickly policies about how many beach towels you could use...we really felt like guests, and were not nickel-and-dimed to distraction every time we turned around. The staff was superb - genuine, low key, endlessly pleasant. Golf carts are available for rent - about $55 for 8 hours - some reviewers in the past complained about the bumpy road the cart had to use to get into San Pedro town - about 30 min ride - we in fact loved it since it was an authentic experience we would never forget - we hope they never pave it since it would increase motorized traffic. on this route is a great BBQ place.. the smoked bbq chicken is great.. ribs are spicy - little pricey but worth it. Loved the kitchen - since we like to fix breakfast and to cook dinners sometimes. Try to get condos in bldgs 1, 2, 11, 12 to be closer to the sea/beach and away from the pool noise. Construction nose behind 11 and 12 are not a major issue,

Almond Beach Resort & Spa

Sittee Point Rd., Hopkins - Map
"Almond Beach Resort and Spa/Jaguar Reef Lounge"
Very nice--we wanted a peaceful vacation and we got it. The Resort is on the beach allowing the wind to keep the beach comfortable. Less than 30 yards away from the waves. The restaurant was excellent. The tours were set up at the front desk, but you could get tours elsewhere, if you wanted. Hopkins--the city--was accessible by bike (provided) or golf cart (rental) but you wouldn't want to walk (about a mile, dust and heat). You could walk along the beach, though--very quaint and pleasant. They offered snorkeling and fishing off the barrier reef from boats that launched right at the resort beach. A good place for a family. Kayaks on beach, snorkeling gear provided. No fish or reef on shore, though. You need to go on a boat.

Windy Hill Resort

ML. 68 Western Highway, San Ignacio - Map
"Like staying in a botanical garden"
San Ignacio is a busy, buzzing village, with lots of [wonderful] people and noise. The Windy Hill Resort is about a mile outside of town and it is peaceful, beautiful and affordable. You have your own private cabin, an infinity pool, an indoor/outdoor resturant and tiki bar and they will book any tour for you at the front desk. Or if you want to go it alone they will give you any and all info you need for safe and easy travels. The staff is very friendly and courteous and made us feel so welcome and at home. The only thing I could possibly complain about is the shower, witch the water is heated in the shower head, and I could only seem to get hot or cold water out of it, never just warm. But this was a minor inconvenience for such a wonderful place. I would highly recommend staying at the Windy Hill Resort, and tell Ricky, the bar tender, we said hello :-)

"Trip to X'Tan Ha"
The hotel & staff are exceptional & accommodations are very nice. I lost my luggage for 4 days(United Air) staff were very helpful. Beware of small boat charter to the island from Belize City-my friend had her i-pod stolen. Hang on to your luggage! Travel light- you only need a few items eg. bathing suit, shorts tops-don't need to dress up. Lots of excursions available as well as free kayaks ,paddle boats. We ordered food before hand and the fridge was packed with food and beer. You can get as many bottles of liquor & wine at the Belize airport duty free after you have gone through customs on your way in to the resort.

Blue Marlin Beach Resort - South Water Caye Hotels

Blue Marlin Beach Resort

14 Miles Offshore from Dangriga, South Water Caye - Map
"Quiet and secluded"
We stayed at the Blue Marlin on our recent trip to Belize. South Water Caye is about 45 minutes from Dangriga and is a small island that has three resorts on it. Even though the island is about a mile long by about 2 blocks wide the three resorts don't seem to get along very well. I think this is planned so that they can each have the guest of their resort be committed to the services (food, drinks, snorkeling, diving, etc.) of that resort. We booked our trip online and paid plenty for the one week stay and airfare. What I didn't realize is all of the added cost that wasn't included. The flights included in our booking was into Belize City and didn't include the short (25 minute) flight from Belize City to Dangriga (an additional $163 per person round trip) and the 45 minute boat ride (an additional $135 per person round trip). The meals are also an additional fee ($2,145 per couple including snorkeling). Don't forget to add the 12.5% sales tax and 10% service fee to everything. The staff was great. They where very friendly and did what they could within the obvious boundaries in place my management. The food was American fare and was average in quality. For the price charged you would think the food would be better but in general it was OK. In short, if I knew all of the add-on fees that wheren't included initially I wouldn't book with them again, a $4k to $5k trip should be a lot better quality than Blue Marlin.

"Luxery in a small town"
This hotel is a luxerious tropical paradise at the end of Hopkins. The rooms are large and clean, the beds are super comfy and the balcony is wonderful. The food at the Rum Bar is a bit overpriced, but good and convenient. Overall, a wonderful stay.
