When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a young man who barely spoke English. We finally conversed with him in French telling him that the first "comfort" room he offered us, tiny and ground floor out to the parking lot as it was, simply wasn't acceptable. So we were sent to the top floor.
The room on the top floor hadn't been cleaned at all. It was in appalling state and we were told that the maid had just gone home.
After a lot of back and forth we were given a room on the 3rd floor (corner room, bright and nice except for the 14 or so inch 10-15 year old square TV which was so small that from the bed we couldn't watch at all the German only programs of the 8 or 9 stations offered).
We always look for hotels with "high-speed Internet in all rooms" offer. This hotel knew (according to the front desk clerk) that the wireless Internet didn't reach beyond the 2nd floor. No word of that in any of their advertising. We ended up using our phones' Internet connection at a significant extra cost.
Overall, we definitely would not recommend this hotel to anybody. It was a bad experience.

My husband had wanted to see the schwebebahn for 70 years and the Astor hotel could not be closer to the station, We spent a large part of our visit riding the schwebebahn and exploring the Wuppertal valley, including the Sculpture Park and lunch at the Brauhaus. It's a great area for walking - friendly people and lovely views.

Small hotel hard to find. Great Staff who try hard and easy to work with. Small rooms, in odd shapes. They have a hot pot for tea and coffee but no coffee in the room, odd. Parking on street in front is not a problem. Free internet is a big help.
