"Great hotel at any price!"
We just finished our vacation at the Sunscape. I read the reviews before we booked and I must say it lived up to what we were hoping for!! A great staff, a comfortable room, lots of activities and a laid back fun atmosphere. The gym is small but complete. Gilberto does a great job keeping the gym organized. The food was good but we coulda used a little more spice. really close to the beach but we recommend some sort of water shoe as the water is rocky. Awesome bar tenders and wait staff! The only real negative was the lack of free wifi in the rooms but the $30 we spent for 5 days was worth it. We had a great time and would definetely go back and recommend it to everyone!!

"You Get What You Pay For"
This was our second time staying at Park Royal. Our first time was an amazing experience, this most recent stay...not so much. I will start with the good: this is a beautiful resort, clean facilities, AMAZING cleaning staff, nice pools, decent food, friendly staff, great location and a good value for your money. However, there are also some negatives: we were moved to five different rooms before we finally found a room without mold (on the 7th floor). It was not uncommon to wait 5+ minutes at dinner for our drink order to be taken and to be towards the end of our meal before our drinks (Coke and water) to be delivered to our table. We even tipped the servers, but that wasn't incentive enough to increase the speed of service. Dinner reservations begin being taken at 12:30pm and are generally full by 1:30pm for the fancier restaurants. We had cold shower water every day of our stay and when we finally brought this to the attention of staff, were told that "it was a hotel-wide problem" and not offered a solution. Again, considering that it is an extremely affordable resort, I can't complain TOO much, but just be aware that you are going to get what you pay for.

"I had fun!"
I visited the Iberostar from May 15-20, 2015 with absolutely no regrets. Upon arrival to the resort, the staff were and continued to be very pleasant throughout my stay. While there I engaged in several activities which included wind surfing, ATV adventures, para-sailing, horseback riding, shopping at the local market and snorkeling. When I was not up and about I spent my time relaxing near the beach or pool or socializing with the entertainment team. I also ate at every restaurant but none compared to dining at the Mexican. The ambiance of the resort was everything. The combination of huts, trees, stone paths and wildlife was able to sustain the tranquility that I longed for. Although I was a bit concerned about the wild life there, they turned out to be very peaceful and friendly animals and that to me was a plus. On the negative side, when I did have an alcoholic beverage, they all tasted watered down. My bed was hard and that made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Again the staff were awesome with the exception of one young lady who works with the water sports. She had long curly hair, spoke in an American accent and appears to be in a early 20's. I did a lot of water activities and whenever I encountered her she was just so rude and unpleasant to me. The way she would respond to my questions and pay no attention to me whenever I would show up until I said something to her. In all, my stay was truly fulfilling and I intend to revisit very soon.

"Good snorkeling, friendly staff"
The snorkeling off the beach area at the hotel was really cool. Lots of pretty fish, and we even saw a few rays out in the deeper water! The staff was friendly and accomodating, but nothing over the top. Great hotel, would definitely stay here again. Also, the "continental breakfast" is just fruit, juice, and toast - carbs and sugar. Not super good either...

"First time visit 04/2015"
Overall this place was an okay stay. If you're looking for 5 star, you can't go in expecting it at this hotel. The staff was really great and the pool was really nice. Just a few things I was looking for when reading reviews. Food: it is all buffet style, they changed the location every night we were there, so it was kind of confusing. It wasn't the best food I've ever had, but there was always something that I could find to eat. I thought most of the dessert selections that they had were not good at all, that was disappointing. The breakfast was pretty good most days and we usually only had the snack bar for lunch. We did realize like the last day that lunch was across the street at the other part of the resort. Drinks: There are a TON of drink options for you to choose from if you are looking for blended drinks. I loved that option at the resort. There was only one type of beer I think, but trying all of the different types of blended drinks was awesome! Beach: The fact that you had to go across the street to get to the beach and go snorkeling was kind of disappointing as well. We rarely spent any time over there other than to watch the sunset, went snorkeling one day (which the snorkeling equipment isn't great), and to check out the hammocks. Before I even got into the water to go snorkeling I cut my leg pretty bad on the ladder due to a piece of metal from the step being stuck out. We spent most of our time at the pool and it was never crowded.

"Lovely hotel but no need for Suite"
Nice hotel overall. Very clean. I had gotten the Suite thinking it would be a huge room but it only had an attached room that we didn't discover until we were packing to leave because the door was jammed. That was disappointing. If I just had a deluxe ocean view room it would have been better.

This is our 5 th time staying at Playa Azul and we'll be back. From the minute we arrived we were remembered and welcomed with hugs. The chef at breakfast knew what I liked from previous years- amazing. We love the intimacy of the beach . Every room has a beautiful view. The hotel is old and not for 5 star patrons but we wouldn't go anywhere else on Cozumel!!
