We just spent 9 nights with our 12, 10 and 6 year old. The resort is very relaxing with plenty of things to do. Snorkelling right outside your door, kayaking, kids activities. We didn't do the meal plan as we don't like to spend our whole holiday eating. There is a small supermarket at Ananda's which sells reasonably priced food including fresh bread and cream buns. The staff are excellent with a few being stand outs, they take a real interest in the kids! Our kids especially loved the 'catch and throw' game which was played at 3:30 every afternoon followed by a game of Volley ball, with parents, kids and staff. Oh and definitely don't take too many clothes, as you are always in the water. I have come home to save up and go back for 2 weeks and 9 nights wasn't long enough for us!
We also stayed 5 nights at Denarau, which is extremely commercialised and only good if you are doing a few inland tours.

Nice garden, tidy & clean, friendly staff, close to airport + free Raffles shuttle transfer, bus stop at front door - easy for Yasawa Flyer Coach picking up.
Easy if taking taxi too - staff will call taxi for you, very quick.
Totally worth the money!

Just got back home from a relaxing week at Hideaway. Book an oceanfront room for an unobstructed view of the sea. Breakfast was included in room price which is great value for money. Entertainment shows in the main restaurant (8.30pm) are great fun. Staff are super friendly but not intrusive. Recommend hiring a car to have the freedom to explore the beautiful coral coast.

The poolside setting of glorious ocean views amid palms and figs and the open but intimate layout of Garden Island coupled with the warmth of the welcome that we received and the high quality food gave us the impression of staying in an exclusive bed and breakfast or upmarket boutique you'd ordinarily pay through the nose for.
We avoided the "resorts" of DI by making the extra but fun trip to Garden Island and we were rewarded with a peaceful, unique stay.
The facilities were simple but it's strengths were an outstanding, fresh menu that changed daily and a pool area which was lined by an open and most comfortable restaurant and bar overlooking the ocean and licked with sun and delightful afternoon tranquility.
The rooms were comfortable without being outstanding as they were somewhat small though were immaculately clean and the ocean front hot tub in each room was a big win.
Most appealing re rooms though was that they were positioned within metres of the water so we woke to ocean views in the morning, views of the sunset in the afternoon, and we'd retire to bed with the soft sound of waves in the evening.
Taveuni is large enough to get out and enjoy a day trip to lush rain forests and waterfalls or escape to an isolated island with a packed lunch prepared by the hotel.
The resorts diving facilities are first class and the snorkelling is wonderful.
Make the effort if you are after a peaceful, romantic escape.
We loved our stay at Garden Island.

"The perfect relaxing tropical getaway with amazing"
The relaxation begins on the boat journey from the mainland out to Toberua and we were greeted by the staff on the jetty and serenaded, which continues at each amazing meal. The rooms are perfect and all face the ocean and the lack of TV and phones in the rooms is in my mind a holiday at it's best. Nothing is contrived, just the perfect idyllic tropical paradise. The staff greet you warmly and you very much feel like it's your island. With daily snorkelling to breathtaking reefs brimming with tropical fish and coral and activities and daily tours to boot if you get tired of lounging in your own private hammock or deck chairs. Sandra and Max are pacific aficionados and a vault of knowledge of the area - though rather modest so do ask questions, they are fascinating hosts! The food is amazing and I loved that the only time frame I knew was the beating of the drum to herald meal times. This is my second time to Fiji and would recommend this island over any of the big resorts anyday!
