This was my second stay at the Barcelo Punta Umbria. It is a beautiful hotel with a very good beach and pine woods. Nearby there are many good little restaurants with good prices and fresh fish.
My only problem is that the hotel controls the air conditioning system in such a way that you are usually hot in your room.

This is a very pleasant hotel. The room was clean, and comfortable. The hotel was also quiet, which does not always happen . The hotel breakfast was very excellent, with fresh foods, and wonderful breads. I would definitely return to this hotel.

I stayed here as a supporter for my golf club that had reached the finals of The Mail on Sunday Golf competition. Venue and facilities were excellent. The staff were amongst the best I have encountered in Europe, efficient, helpful and happy to deal with any small or large request, be it usual or unusual. The food was fantastic, well presented, plentiful and always served with a smile. The two golf courses were in excellent condition. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends.

Whilst this (large) hotel is well maintained and spotlessly clean, we were eaten alive by flies and mosquitos, probably due to the adjacent river and sand dunes. The swimming pool was too cold for most people to use (bear in mind, we holidayed in October)and there was a charge of 10 Euros per person per day to use the indoor swimming pool/fitness centre in an adjacent hotel. Not the place to go for a romantic holiday for two - at peak times you couldn't hear yourself think in the self-service dining room, although the food choice and quality was excellent. You definitely need a car for this part of Spain and the resort itself is not really within easy walking distance of the hotel, unless you like a daily hike.

great resort for sporting folks but a remote resort in a tiny hamlet. it is around a mile from the tiny village which is lovely but transport links are not good so does demand either a hire car or being able to walk
