I stayed in the hotel for a few nights as a lone traveler and I was made to feel very welcome and was given all the information I required during my stay. The rooms are immaculate, the staff are very friendly and helpful and it is very reasonably priced - I will definitely be staying again!

"The perfect hotel for an Istanbul Old Town stay."
The Lalinn Hotel is a short 10 to 15 minute walk from the Blue Mosque and other key sites. It is in a quiet location and has modern, clean and well equipped rooms with friendly and helpful staff with generally good English. We had a large family room with a comfortable 6 foot double bed plus a single bed, a large wardrobe and plenty of space to walk around in and store suitcases etc. The ensuite bathroom was a reasonable size with a good shower and unlimited hot water available 24 hours. We didn't see any of the normal double rooms but we think they are also of a reasonable size.
There is a very wide selection of good quality fresh food for breakfast catering for all tastes from basic cereals to cold meats, cheeses, olives, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and sausages etc.
The hotel is expanding onto a site next door so there is construction work going on but this never disturbed us. It was certainly quieter than most other areas of the old town.
Overall we were very pleased with this hotel and can highly recommend it.
We had a wonderful 6 nights stay and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the splendours of Istanbul.

"Excellent hotel 2 mins walking to taksim square."
Let me tell the experience short and sweet..
1) excellent staff , they will help you in every thing and I mean every thing. Tell them your problem and they will give you it's solution..
2) excellent rooms.. We booked deluxe suite and they upgraded it to penthouse suite.. Deluxe suite was very big and penthouse suite was like a dream.. Superbly decorated. So don't worry for comfort..
3) excellent location :- location was 2 mins walking to taksim square and 4 mins walk to istikal street. So i was at the best possible location..
4) felt home.. The way the staff greet made us fell home.
5)more than a boutique hotel.. Don't expect for swimming pool or a big lobby.. But decorated overall nicely..
6) lastly value for money... They money they charge you and the rooms they give you in that money is absolutely awesome..
Thanks again to hotel people for making our trip so special..

The hotel room was very clean and comfortable. The location was ideal for our 2-week stay: in the heart of historical Istanbul, minutes away from the light train rail system. The hotel staff was excellent and very helpful with our numerous queries.
I would not hesitate to return nor to recommend this fine location!

Living as an expat in Istanbul, I choose this hotel for is location and comfort. Karakoy is an old area of the city that has recently seen an influx of boutique restaurants and bars and the hotel is right in the middle of them all. Additionally, it's a short walk to Galata and Sultanamet--both must see areas for sights and nightlife. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to have a small party in the communal kitchen where we enjoyed fruity cocktails before our night out. I definitely recommend this hotel!

We loved staying at the Tashkonak Hotel. The staff was really wonderful and attended our every request. We were there for 2 weeks and they made us feel like it was our home. We loved the location. It is in an old neighborhood and we got to know a lot of the people who worked at the little market (right around the corner) and many of the small cafes down the street. The hotel is one block from the incredible Arasta Bazaar, lots of folk art stores, and a 5 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya,& the Basilica Cistern. One of our favorite things to do was to sit on a bench in the evening in the area between the Blue Mosque & Aya Sofya and watch all the people. All the buildings are lit-up and it's magical. The friendly staff at the hotel reflected the general feel of all the Turkish people we encountered on our trip. Ask for a room overlooking the garden. We had a wonderful time and the Tashkonak Hotel was part of that experience.

Location was perfect for exploring the old city of Istanbul, and with access to further afield. The hotel was clean, comfortable, tasty breakfast included, and they readily accommodated our very late check out for a small fee.
The only issue we had was with the heating. As the weather was warm, we could not cool the room, so had to keep the balcony door open at night - not the most secure option, but we were prepared so it wasn't a problem.

I stayed in hotel Perula for three nights with my mum in June 2013. The hotel met all our expectations and overall we were very happy with our experience there.
Our twin-share room was a bit on the small side, but it was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was very clean and looked new. There was no view, but that was fine by us.
Breakfast was good and was available until relatively late (10.30am, later than other places I've stayed!) which we were very happy about.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They helped us book various things to do and see. We booked a Bosphorus boat tour recommended by the hotel, but you should ask around, there might be better prices out on the street.
The free wifi available throughout the hotel was really handy.
But the best aspect of the hotel was definitely the location! It was only a few minutes walk to the Blue Mosque and then a few minutes more to Hagia Sophia and the Basilica Cistern and lots of other sights. I wish we could have stayed in Istanbul for longer! If you're looking for a decent hotel at this price point, in a great location, I would recommend Hotel Perula.
