I was massively impressed by the Alpen Hotel. Giovanni on reception bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. The underground secure bike storage area was fantastic and they even found us a track pump. The whole hotel is funkily decorated and much more modern and chic than any other "ski chalet" style hotel I have ever stayed in. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent and special mention must also go to the shower: ginormous shower head, always warm and powerful. The only slight criticism was a like warm hot tub at the time I tried it but I would definitely go back

A friendly family hotel. Great location with the ski bus stopping right outside. Also for pedestrians, its a pleasant 12 minute walk along a path to town which is really nice with an interesting old town area.
Lovely breakfasts with good choice and we did try the evening meals too which were pretty good; they also tried to accomodate a vegetarian, not always easy abroad!
The rooms, a little old fashioned and simple were spotless, comfortable and quiet and all the bathrooms were super . We would definitely go back.

A very nice hotel with very friendly staff. When we had a drink in the bar area, we were brought lots of snacks. Had a great resident dog that slept on the carpet in the lobby.....very cute! Interior was top-notch!. Loads of cozy seating areas to sit and relax. Great secure parking.

Hotel Astra is a small but quaint hotel nestled at the very heart of the Italian Alps, in the breathtakingly beautiful town of Livigno. We had to travel an extremely long way to get there but it was very much worth the effort. Upon our arrival, my fiancee and I were given a warm welcome by the owner and were provided with a complimentary night cap before been shown to our room. The room contained everything we required for a comfortable and relaxing stay including a whirlpool bathtub, a tempur mattress and a balcony with a magnificent view. The next morning after breakfast (which was lovely), the concierge Marco gave us some invaluable advice about where to go for skiing lessons, helped us to obtain our ski passes and informed us where to go to hire out the necessary equipment. We spent the first day organising all of this and doing a bit of sight seeing. Livigno is a great town for shopping as it is a tax free area which means you can buy goods at a substantially lower price than normal. On the second day we went for our skiing lesson first thing in the morning on a slope located directly at the back of our hotel which was ideal. Our instructor was fantastic and once we had learned the basics we decided to continue on our own because we felt that the best way to learn is from your own mistakes! Each day we followed the pattern of skiing in the mornings, sight seeing and shopping in the afternoons and at night enjoying the various restaurants and buzzing bars. AMAZING!

Room was small however just what we needed. Nothing fancy however in line with the amount paid as very reasonable. Hotel staff were polite and friendly and could not do enough for you. Excellent location for access to the main cable car and busses to other lifts. Food was excellent. LIvigno is a hidden treasure. Would stay in both livigno and these appartments again.
