The hotel sits in from the main road, which is perfect, because it puts the visitor within 40 yards of the two main shopping areas of Kyoto. Also, the location provides easy access to some local restaurants. Furthermore, many of the local sites are within walking distance and Kyoto train station is a 30 minute walk, if needed. The hotel rooms are small but efficient (heated mirror and toilet) and so is the service, with more than enough English spoken to help you. And they were always eager to help out. And the wifi was available for free in the rooms as I why on the top floor and had no problems, and they provide umbrellas.

A very nice hotel, with excellent staff and service. Being located near a stop on the subway line makes it easy to get around. Only about a 15-20 min ride to get to the conference centre, there's a tunnel connecting the conference centre to the subway.

The hotel is very well maintained and is great value for money. There are coin-laundries on 3-4 floors along with vending machines inside the hotel. Most of the staff at the reception speak English. They also provide free umbrella and free bicycles if you need one. The Semi-double room I stayed in had a comfortable bed and all the other facilities as listed on Expedia. The Karasuma Oike Metro Station is just 2-3 minutes of walk from the Hotel. There are a lot of places to see within walking distance like The International Manga Museum and Nijo Castle. I loved the fact that there was a choice b/w Japanese & Western cuisine for breakfast. There are few eating joints & 7-11 nearby too. I had an Ice cream vending machine near my room & really spent a lot of money using it during my stay...haha.

This is a fine little hotel. I had a single room which was small but very comfortable. It had a refrigerator so I was able to keep milk for my morning tea, and wine and beer for happy hour! There was a kettle for boiling water. I did have to ask for the air conditioning to be turned on at the start of my stay and after that, no problem. I took a few extra hangers with me since I read there was no wardrobe and just a couple hangers on hooks on the wall. It worked out just fine. The hotel was so quiet and just a couple of minutes walk to a subway station. It's centrally located anyway so those with better legs than I could easily walk to the main downtown/shopping areas. I didn't have the Japanese breakfasts at the hotel (1,000 yen each) but walked to either a Starbucks or a lovely little French bakery for breakfast in the morning. There's also a good French restaurant just across the street from the hotel. I loved my little bathroom too! There are 2 computers in the lobby area for the use of guests (free of charge.)
