"Great location"
It is located in the heart of the city's shopping district and near many excellent restaurants. It is walking distance (half hour) to the museum district so even though it was cold and rainy, we walked to the Prado Museum for a wonderful day. Then we went out to an excellent tapas restaurant only 2 blocks away.

"Great value, room and service in good location"
We stayed for five nights during warm weather. We appreciated having space to spread out with the layout having a 'separate' sitting area, bathroom and toilet. It was good having a fridge and basic kitchen facilities to enjoy a cold drink at the end of the day. The hotel staff were always friendly and responsive to our queries and spoke excellent English. Our particular thanks go to Jose - he gave us superb local bar and restaurant recommendations, helped with transport queries and advice about getting the most from our stay. We took the breakfast deal of 10 euros on two mornings - the best choice, presentation and quality of breakfast food (option of scrambled eggs, omelet, bacon and eggs etc cooked to order) during our 4 weeks in Spain and Morocco.

Pocket Guide: Madrid Salamanca 3 stars Hotels

North of the Retiro, Salamanca has always been an affluent neighbourhood. Its grid-like streets and beautiful houses sprang up at the end of the 19th century, escaping from the old city walls. Today, ladies who lunch drop into its spas and designer shops, many of which line the long, sleek Calle Serrano. The National Library and the Museum of Archaeology are close to the Plaza de Colón.
