Older hotel with lots of character. Well maintained with helpful staff. It is just half a block from the cable cars and Union Square. No air conditioning but not a problem since the windows open and there is a ceiling fan. Will be back to stay here again for sure.

The hotel has a great location, with walking distance from most forms of public transport. Union square isn't far from the hotel either (I walked there to get to the Apple store and it only took about 10 minutes). There are plenty of coffee shops around as well as other general stores. The staff are always friendly and ready to help. On check in, they will help you with the area, giving details of the local stores, area and a map locating where they are in relation to the rest of the city.

I highly recommend this well placed hotel at the doorway to San Francisco's tourist, shopping, and financial districts. A short walk from the Powell Bart & Cable Car stations, trendy Union Square, Market Street, and much more make it a top choice for a base of exploration. It is very clean, and well maintained by caring professional friendly management and staff that do everything possible to make your stay a pleasant one. It had a very nice Caribbean plantation atmosphere with shutters, ceiling fan, and all. Across the road is the Olympic Cafe where we had breakfast every day. Really good home cooked meals at a very reasonable price but cash only. There are also many other restaurants between the hotel and Union Square to satisfy every taste, price range, and need to use plastic.
