Peaceful tranquility complemented with comfortable and clean accommodation! Sitting out on our own balcony overlooking the slopes of the Poas volcano was just heaven! :) The friendly hosts completed the perfection of this hotel - always helpful and informative, and ready to offer advice for sight seeing and exploring.
We just cannot wait to go back again!

Had a great experience. The lodge looks small from the outside but looks are deceiving. The staff was great and catered to our needs. Nice fireplace as well to sit by at night and have a glass of wine.

People who stay at a B&B are generally looking for an experience that differentiates itself from a hotel stay. Roberto, the owner/manager, runs a fine establishment. Although you'll need to get cabs into the city, Escazu provides a much quieter setting and a respite from a busseling city that is a must see. If Roberto offers pick up from the airport, accept it. David, the driver, is a good guy. Also, and exceptionally helpful, is a cell phone that Roberto may offer you for the duration of the stay. Trust me, as we found out, better to have a cab company on speed dial that knows the B&B's location than not.

We spent 2 weeks in this hotel. The location of the hotel is good: a lot of restaurants and shops around. The cleanliness of the hotel is perfect, staff was friendly and helpfull, the set up and variaty of breakfast is exellent. Tv can be a little bit bigger and wifi can be stronger. We enjoyed staying there and recomend this hotel not only for weekend but for a long period.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Buena Vista for 2 nights and had an excellent experience. We had originally only booked one night and planned to stay there the day before we left Costa Rica, but bad weather at another location led us to call Hotel Buena Vista the day before our stay to see if they had any availabilities for another night. They were very helpful, spoke perfect English, and booked us a beautiful balcony room that very day. The parking area felt very safe, the staff were smiling and happy to help us find activities in the area. The rooms are spacious, and it was cool enough even in July that we didn't mind there was no A/C. The first night we stayed in a room in the main hotel, and the walls are a bit thin. There was a large tour group staying at the hotel and we could hear them during dinner and whenever they entered/exited their rooms. Our second night was completely noise-free though. We upgraded to a private villa (there are 5 on property). We had a huge room with 2 beds, 2 couches, a private screened in porch overlooking San Jose. We ate dinner on property that night, huge portions and good quality. It only took us about 20 minutes to get to the airport from the hotel, but you would never know you were so close with how private the grounds feel. We will definitely stay again when we return for our next trip!

I loved every minute of being here. The staff did everything in their power to make this a pleasant stay, especially the manager, Elizabeth. The rooms are huge, beautiful and clean. The scenery is gorgeous. I have only one negative and it's that the hotel is very isolated. You need a taxi, which cost me about $20 per ride...or walk into the tiny town and catch a bus, which was very confusing. I will definitely come here again, but with a rental car.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 1 night stay. Abraham at the front desk was the main reason. He was welcoming, attentive and courteous. Whenever I needed him, he was available and quick to respond. I liked the overall hotel as well nice theme and everything was clean and well maintained. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to San Jose

This hotel was great mostly for its people. The desk staff, bartenders, wait staff, cleaning staff - all nice and very helpful. I travelled with my sister and we stayed in Cala - the rooms have names instead of numbers. We had 2 comfortable beds and a nice bathroom with a shower/tub combination. We were there from 7/2 - 7/8 and slept with the window open every night and were very comfortable.
In addition, the food was excellent! Breakfast was the same everyday and very good, but the dinners the chef prepared were some of the best around! Try the Spaghetti - who would have thought an Italian dish in CR would be so remarkable?!
The staff was helpful in confirming tour pick up times for us, responding to a call when we broke a class in the bathroom - eek, and even arranged to order and pick up a cake my sister requested for my birthday. I don't recall the name of the bakery, but the cake was to die for! I'm sure if you ask, they can hook you up.
Overall, a great place to stay!
One thing of note, there is a train that passes (down the middle of the street!) about 60 feet from the hotel. it didn't bother us at all, in fact we liked hearing it. But if you're sensitive to such sounds, be aware!
