I chose this hotel as my usual one was fully booked. Also I wanted to be close to the Nanjing Road.
I also knew how to get to this hotel from the airport.(Maglev and Metro).
A far higher standard than the other hotel.
I decided one night to order a room service breakfast for the next morning so filled out the menu card and left it on the door handle outside.
At the appointed time it was delivered.
That night I decided to do the same again for the next morning, however a replacement menu card had not been left.
I had to go down to the Lobby to ask for one.
Completed and hung outside on the door handle again.Breakfast was again delivered at the appointed time.
However this time the food was cold,I just ate the toast and had the coffee and Orange Juice.
Never had another the rest of my stay

"Great hotel in non city area with local atmosphere"
We were very comfortable in this hotel, specifically chosen as it was not in traditional tourist location. Breakfast is very basic but adequate to our needs, having a refrigerator & electric kettle in room along with supermarkets close by meant we could have extra supplies of favoured items. Variety of local restaurants and great bakery along with other local shops easy to walk to.Tours were organised through Expedia and pick up at this hotel was not a problem.
Hotel provided vehicle and driver to Pudong Airport on last day at cost of RMB250 well worth this cost, great trip also.

My partner and myself chose this hotel due to previous recommendations and its lovely photographs. The hotel itself is in a reasonable location and the room we had was very nice. Unfortunately a few things let this trip down.
1) balcony. I paid extra for a balcony room thinking it would be lovely to sit and look at the scenery however we were unable to access it as the door was locked at a four inch gap. I understand safety is paramount but why advertise a balcony if we can't have one?!
2) peacocks. The hotel advertised wandering peacocks but we never saw them - we looked specifically several times.
3) being fined for a nosebleed. I had a nosebleed while sat on the bed one evening and got some (a drop) of blood on the sheet. We were charged 330RMB (£33)for the privilege.
4) location. There are construction works going on, on one side of the hotel. Its not too noisy but it does disturb that sense of this place being a "retreat" , and views from the room overlook this lovely construction site. Taxi drivers can find this place really difficult to find and the subway is a 15-20 minute walk away.

Top marks are to be given to the strategic location of this hotel, which is right in the middle of the East Nanjing Road. As such, it is very convenient to walk through the pedestrain street to the MRT station, People's Square and the Bund area. We were lucky to be given a room at the top floor, which appeared to be newly refurbished. Although the room is a bit small, but it is clean and comfortable.

Fabulous plus. We were so happy to be assigned the Einstein room. Modern but retains that historic feel. It couldn't be better located. Right near Bund and Pearl Tower. We ate twice in Richards bar, and it was great. Breakfast was both eastern and western with omelette station.

I recently had a 5 night stay at the Donghu Guest house and would highly recommend it! It was super cheap (but not in a nasty way) and the rooms were very clean, well maintained and the air conditioning was very efficient during the summer heat. The hotel is conveniently located right next to Huaihai Road (brilliant for shopping), in between 2 Metro stations which makes getting around really easy. People's Park is only 2 stops away for 3RMB. Donghu Street itself, is packed with lots of little restaurants, bars and massage/beauty parlours and if you venture up to Changle Road you can find lots of cute little shops with a local feel. I really enjoyed my stay (and the area in general) and will definitely stay here again!

This hotel is really good for the price. The room is large and the staffs are very helpful. The hotel is 10 minutes away from Xujiahui shopping district and subway line number 1. The only thing is that there is a construction site for subway line number 7 next to the hotel, which makes get in and out the hotel a little difficult, but it is still manageable. And it will be more convenient to commute when the subway is built.
