"Perfect Location"
We enjoyed being a couple blocks from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento but close enough to walk everywhere. The view from our room overlooking the property & gardens was lovely. We ended up staying an extra night. We felt that it was a good value. Breakfast was tasty. Help was very friendly. It was recommended to us by friends and we were very happy with it. It was also nice to eat at the restaurant right next to the property when we wanted a quiet meal and be away from some of the crowds. Loved walking around the area by the hotel and out to some outlying areas in Sorrento, away from the crowds, but close enough to downtown, trains, buses to walk there in minutes.

"Family run hotel"
As a solo traveller I was fortunate to stay for five nights at the soleluna in April. The whole family were very welcoming. The room was very spacious not the usual broom cupboard given to solo travellers. The train station was a ten minute walk away which acted as a gateway to Naples, Pompei and Sorrento. But to save the best till last......... The food was device, every bite melted in your mouth. I enjoyed my experience at the soleluna so much I have booked a return trip to this hotel in August.

"Best view, perched upon the rock"
The hotel was built by the family exactly 50 years ago, and while it's a little old fashioned I couldn't fault the cleanliness or decor - no parking paint or tired furniture. The owners were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - it's easy to just turn up and attached your troops with them as you can get bus tickets, travel advice and recommendations from them easily. There's a free shuttle bus which runs hourly from the hotel to town which is essential and makes getting into Sorrento easy and effortless - you've just got to remember the timetable ! Couldn't fault the rooms, with such an incredible view from the balcony of Vesuvius - beautiful. Free WiFi, and internet access was problem free. Bathroom was spotless and beds comfortable. Breakfast was delicious - freshly squeezed orange juice was out of this works ! And they even had real tea bags- seeing as I don't drink coffee this was a pleasant surprise. It was wonderful to have breakfast looking out towards the bay. We never got around to eating in the restaurant in the evening but other guests aired us the food was very good. A lovely little girl if you enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle and like some tranquility and astounding views, yet easy to get to ask the tourist locations too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

"Good Friendly Hotel"
We stayed in Settimo Cielo for 5 nights. Although we did not have a balcony room the picture windows gave panoramic views over the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius which were lovely. Could also watch the comings and goings in the marina Grande. The breakfast, typically italian, was both plentiful and lots of variety. The staff were very helpful with superb english. Pool at bit cool but cannot blame hotel for that. I agree with the comments about the towels and would have preferred fluffy towel rather than the linen, but again this is how things are in this part of Italy. The location is not so good for those with walking or breathing difficulties being about 1/2 mile up a continual slope with very narrow (in parts) pavement. Lorries, buses and scooters are constant until late in the evening and the fumes on the road dreadful. Use taxis Overall a great time, good food and ambiance - only downside the traffic.

"Friendly and value for money."
All staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are excellent although the room is tight for space at peak time and I would move a couple of tables on to the balcony which has the space. The hotel has a light and airy feel and the balcony to our room was ideal for winding down after the day before the evening meals. I would appreciate an insiders guide to the restaurants because some are second rate tourist traps whilst other provide excellent service and food. On reflection we should have asked!

"Great location"
Best location 4 mins walk from the railway station, supermarket one one side and a bakery on the other right on the main street. The staff were friendly and very accommodating with information and a few lessons in the Italian language! The room and bathroom were sparkling clean very pleasant house maid, the breakfast the usual Italian fare with cereal and juice was more than adequate. A 10min. Walk past the hotel on the right hand side will bring you to the BEST gelato shop ever, ask for the menu 365 different combinations, one for every day of the year we were told, best bannana split ever! Crepes sooooo yummy all in all enjoyed everything on our 8 nights in Sorrento. Thanks to the Hotel staff! Ciaro!

"A lovely quant hotel. Plenty of character."
Our 4 day trip to Sorrento was beautiful! We wanted to see all of it but also relax. The Hotel Del Mare was a great hub for this. It's a 15 minute walk to the Piazzo Tasso but not so close that we hear all the hussle and bustle of the centre. Just round the corner is Marina Grande a working fishing port. Close to family run restaurants.

"An ideal base to explore Amalfi"
At 7 miles from Sorrento this may seem an odd choice, but really, one wants to avoid driving in Italy at the best of times - and in Naples at NO time (unless as a planned alternative to attending Dignitas in Switzerland) and on the Amalfi coast, simply because there is nowhere to park. This modest hotel with simple rooms (some with their own terraces) has a couple of terraces and a bar and pool - with good breakfast (some lighter meals at other times) and very helpful front desk staff. Their comprehensive guide in the room is outstanding and ensures that from this hotel you can explore the area including Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento, Positano, the island of Capri and more. There is a bus stop outside the hotel and tickets can be purchased from the hotel. The buses are remarkably prompt and cover the Amalfi coast. The drivers are very helpful and well used to 'lost' tourists! The buses stop in Sorrento at the train TIP - get your tickets from the first floor booking office - not the dodgy newsagent on the ground floor) - straight to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. Must recommend Paestum - further south (we drove so you will need to find out how to get there), but it is the best set of ruins I have ever seen - three Greek temples (yes - in Italy). Go now before Pompeii, Herculaneum get washed away, a tragedy, having been hidden for 2,000 years. They are now ravaged by the weather. Naples museum is a must to see all the good stuff beforehand

"Lovely family hotel with stunning views"
This is the second time we have stayed at La Vue D'Or and we were not disappointed with our decision to return to this lovely family hotel, with stunning views. Although not in the actual town of Sorrento the courtesy shuttle bus travels back and forth throughout the day and evening and we did not find it a problem. The local bus passes within feet of the hotel and you can travel easily and reasonably to Positano and Amalfi or to and from the town if you decide not to use the shuttle. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. The rooms we have had, have had pleasant décor and have been very clean, with en-suite facilities also very clean and "service cleaned" daily. The pool and pool area are clean and appreciated after a day sight-seeing! Snacks are available during the afternoon and the bar is open from mid-morning to late night. Excursions including Pompeii, Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri etc & taxi's are available through the hotel. Computers are available foc and wifi for own eqpt for small fee. During our stay my daughter unfortunately required emergency medical attention. The staff were exceptional. I cannot speak highly enough of their help and support during this time. They really went over and above expectations. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to travel to Sorrento or wishing to visit the Amalfi coast. It is the ideal location for sight-seeing with the comfort for relaxation in a welcoming environment on return.
