If you're headed to Weimar, this is the place. Right behind the theatre, very central, and very, very cheap. Full kitchen and dining room, which means you can cook a quick lunch if you don't want to pay high prices to eat out well. Friendly proprietor, very laid back, friendly, helpful. Not a lot of services, of course -- it's an apartment, essentially, not a hotel -- but for half the price (or less) than a hotel room.

The people running this hotel are incredibly nice and friendly. We arrived very late (after 9:30 pm) but they reopened their kitchen for us (family of 4 with 2 small kids) to give us a meal. Breakfast is fabulous with their own freshly baked bread! The rooms are large and spotless. This is a family run hotel and you are made to feel right at home. The surrounding area is quiet and beautiful. We were only passing through, but wished we could have stayed longer.

This is a very nice and carefully renovated old place that used to be a stopover (for accomidation and change of horses) on the old merchant travelling road (from Nurnburg to Dresden?). Very friendly and hospitally minded owners.
Recomended for people on bicycle.

"GDR style hotel in beautiful but remote location"
This is probably the most luxurious hotel in the surroundings, and if you are aware that you are in the countryside and that this is a former dormitory of the GDR worker's union you will be comfortable.
This hotel is situated in Masserberg (Thuringian Forest).More
