"Beautiful hotel right on the beach"
We had such an amazing time staying at Las Ranitas. We were greeted at check in with a refreshing juice, the first view of the ocean from the lobby is gorgeous and the staff so friendly. Our room was exactly as it appeared in the pictures. We stayed in the Cristal upstairs unit which is definitely worth the extra cost as it has AC. Everything in the room was perfect, down to the high end bathroom products and the charming flowers and towels arrangement that the housekeeping left every morning. We stayed during turtle hatching season. Each morning the hotel staff would check the beach for baby turtles who hadn't made the trek into the ocean because of seaweed that washed up on the shore. They would gather up the babies and then release them after dark the next time. The staff genuinely care for the survival of the baby turtles and were kind enough to include the guests in helping the babies on their journey into the ocean. Really special experience! Breakfast each morning was by far my favorite meal. A great selection of smoothies, standard breakfast fare and wonderfully spicy mexican egg dishes. Wait staff were all very cheerful and friendly. We stayed during the slow season, but I can imagine the hotel zone gets packed during busy season. Las Ranitas is at the southern edge of the hotel zone and I imagine one of the quieter places when the hotels fill up. Highly recommend this hotel!

"Away from town, so nice."
We stayed here for 3 days while travelling around tulum. My wife and I thought that this hotel was the nicest out of all the hotels we stayed at on our trip. Comfortable beds, nice staff, Coffee, AC, flat screen television. A little bit of a walk from town, but we enjoyed walking and there is a great tacos al pastor across the street as well as a nice fish restaurant right across the street. Not sure but I think it is the one that was reviewed in NY time but not named. Highly recommended if you pre book online to save 50% of the listed price at the hotel, and dont mind walking a little bit - 10 mins slow 5 fast from the end of the sidewalk

"Feels off the grid in a great way"
Whether swimming in the turquoise blue sea or enjoying the calming water of your private pool, no detail is overlooked. From the friendly staff, to the delicious food... From the hanging lanterns to the smell of copal wafting through the air, BeTulum over delivers in every way. They were successful at curating the ultimate beach get-away. We loved every minute of it and plan to go back.

"Very nice room on the beach...."
We had a great stay. Everyone was awesome. Spend the extra $ and get a beach front bungalow, its worth it. Rudy and Tony were awesome and made our trip even more fun. We told them it was our anniversary and we got a free dinner on the beach. There will be topless women on the beach, so if you can't handle seeing that, Tulum is not the place for you. We went to the Tulum ruins, which we would recommend. Akumal Bay was awesome and easy to get to by taxi. We took our own snorkeling gear but they do have it to rent and also lockers you can rent too. Snorkeling with turtles, rays, and fish in calm water. It was very hard to snorkel off of the hotel beach because of the larger waves than at Akumal. We spent an afternoon and went to Playa Del Carmen. Bad idea. Everyone tries to pull you in their shop and sell you weed and the same crap as the guy next door. I wouldn't waste your time or money. Night walks on the beach were great. Make sure you take a flashlight. There are crabs everywhere. When we go back we will rent a car because everywhere you want to go is a long walk and taxi fares add up very quick. Simple was a great place to eat and is right down the road. Also, the pizza at OM resort was awesome and is a short walk up the beach. Back to the Mestizo, they did everything they could to make our trip amazing. Lastly, small bills are pointless in Mexico. Anything less than a fifty peso bill is not needed. A beer is 45 pesos

"Tulum never disappoints.."
I have stayed at several properties on the beach.. but The Beach Tulum is definitely on the top of my list. The service is impeccable with super friendly staff.. Shout out to Greg (beach server), Erick (restaurant manager), Barbara (lobby bartender) and Sylvia (front desk). They were not only super accommodating but really helped to enhance our stay at Beach Tulum. Highly recommend!!

"Tulum's best beach side bargain"
We spent 10 days at Papaya Playa in Tulum, QR, Mexico in early April. We really enjoyed our stay. Now if you want 5 star luxury, this is not the place. But if you like staying in an easygoing place where you do not want to be bothered with things like TV etc, this is the place. Our room had no electricity, but we did not need it. We were within 50 feet of the beach, with always a cool breeze. our Palapa (thatched cabana) was a delight. It was a most relaxing vacation. Prices were reasonable and the staff were very friendly. Most of the guests were from Europe. Many Americans want a fancier place to stay. There were not safety issues there either. All and all We will stay there again next time we go to Tulum...

Pocket Guide: Riviera Maya Tulum 3 stars Hotels

Built on a bluff facing the rising sun, the Mayan ruins of Tulum offer breathtaking views of the Caribbean. Just south of Akumal, Tulum’s proximity to Cancun makes it the most visited archeological site in Mexico. The village of Tulum, along the main highway, offers shops, restaurants, and cantinas. To the north, tourists can swim with dolphins or dive among brilliantly colored fish at Xel-Ha.
