Delicious food and thoughtful staff. The setting is gorgeous and very close to the Strand as well as several vineyards and shopping. The spa was lovely, two nice swimming pools...we were delighted with our stay. The staff were also very helpful with our young children.

We stayed at Winchester Mansions for our week long stay in Cape Town and thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't get a sea view but considering the noise of crashing waves from the hotel's front I wouldn't say that was necessarily a bad thing! We had a 'mountain view' instead, still a very good room.
The front desk staff were great and always keen to help or advise (the free shuttle to the V&A Waterfront was really useful), the restaurant is of high standard and the hotel bar is a popular haunt for locals looking for a few drinks after work. The room decor could perhaps do with a little updating but was still good and, if anything we felt we were being 'over-serviced' ... a lot of staff tasked with cleaning rooms and serving in the restaraunt!
The best thing about the hotel is it's look and feel, by far the prettiest in Sea Point. The open courtyard and external corridors give it a really clasy feel inside as does the view when looking back towards it from the sea front.
The location is pretty good, taxis into the centre of town or down to Camps Bay are relatively cheap and, if need be, the front desk will arrange for the driver to take you if he's available (similar price). The free shuttle to the V&A Waterfront is great though, came in very useful.
All in all, a very pleasant place to stay ... but what is the golf putting equipment in the corridors about, really?

A wonderful experience from check- in to departure. The staff are friendly, attentive and efficient. The room was superb, and the dining (and wining) experience was exceptional. It was a pleasure to entertain old friends at the Myoga restaurant. Solo dining at The Square restaurant was also a memorable experience, with the wonderful ambiance further enhanced by a live pianist. I will look no further when I return to Cape Town in future.

My family enjoyed our 3 night stay (2 kids aged 5 and 9, parents and grandparents). The hotel is set in lovely grounds by the river and the staff are friendly. The wine tasting was fun (good wine) and the Eagle Encounters was a hit with the kids. We ate well at each of the restaurants. The hotel is easy access from Cape Town (you can even come by train) and close to Stellenbosch - a beautiful old university town.

This was may second time staying at MRP and the experience was as good as the first one - it felt as being at home, away from home, so much that I always felt eager to return to the hotel and relax. This time I stayed (by myself) in spacious and extremely comfortable 2 bedroom apartment with a minimalist & contemporary decor, spot clean and well equipped with a kitchen and washing machine. The lobby of the hotel is still very lively with the surrounding curio store, the coffee shop and the gallery store.
The neighborhood is surrounded by shops and staple places (restaurants, gardens, museums) to visit.

Hotel is located in a convenient and safe spot. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The customer service at the concierge desk was very instrumental in giving recommendation and booking reservations for restaurants and attractions. If you drive, we highly recommend using the hotel's parking for a daily fee as there are no nearby free parking. The breakfast buffet was included in the room rate, and it had great selections. Although we brought along a universal adaptor to charge our laptop and iPad, our adaptor could not fit into the South African outlet, we ended up asking the front desk for a loaner adaptor. The only limitation was that they did not have enough loaner available. If you have half-day between the check out time and your departure flight, we highly recommend that you put your luggage at the Bell desk, do whatever you like in town, return to the hotel and use their Spa service and take a relaxing shower prior to heading for the airport, the expense at the Spa is much less expensive than paying additional fee for late check out. All in all, it is a great hotel. We will definitely return when we visit Cape Town again.
