"Classic hotel in a great location!"
We had a fantastic stay at the Millennium Knickerbocker. It reminded me of NY's classic hotels -- great atmosphere and great lobby bar. The concierge was spot on with recommendations for where to eat and what to do, as well as strategic planning so we did them all in the smartest order. She even remembered our quirky specifications the next day when she asked how things went. We would definitely stay again.

"Very Pleased in Chicago"
I have a go to hotel in Chicago but decided to give Sofitel a try since my hotel was booked. I was very pleased and will certainly come back. Great location. Spacious and well designed room. Very clean and a nice staff. I was surprised to learn the hotel was over 5 years old as I thought based on the condition that is was brand new. Very pleased.

"Historic Chicago reliably relevant"
I have stayed at the Palmer House many times over the years. The lobby ceiling and space reminds visitors of its heyday even as the elegance of an upward glance is contradicted by the casual dress of the youthful weekend guests. Once upstairs, the halls and rooms are quiet and spotlessly maintained. My cozy small room was really a luxury. It was well-appointed with marble bathroom, rich decor and one of the most comfortable beds I have every had the pleasure of sleeping on. My only suggestion is that there be more check-in staff. I waited as the few people ahead of me were registering, one staff member did her computer work and the line of people waiting to check in grew.

"Felt Mile high in the mile north!"
Top notch hotel. Brilliant location with everything close by. Room was fab, like a suite. One of the nicest I ever had. Only quibble is that windows don't open and the heat even with air con is quite stuffy. I would definitely stay here again.

The Whitehall Hotel - Chicago Hotels

The Whitehall Hotel

105 E Delaware Pl, Chicago - Map

"Nice "boutique" hotel in great location"
By "boutique", I mean a non-chain hotel that has some character. The Whitehall is almost directly across the street from the Four Seasons, about a block west of the Hilton Chicago and the Hancock Tower, and a block west and south of the venerable Drake Hotel. In other words, you're in a great spot among some heavy hitters, and -- if our experience was any indication -- you won't pay the heavy hitter prices. Of course, the accommodations aren't swanky like those places, but if you're okay with a nice smaller hotel and don't care about not having a pool and a really fancy restaurant on site, this is a great choice. The Red Line is about two blocks west and south, and Michigan Ave. (where several buses run) is a half block) to the east, so getting around downtown and beyond is easy and accessible. The 18 mile-long Chicago Lakefront trail is about three blocks to the northeast (just past the Drake), so if you like to walk, run, bike, etc., you're close to that as well. There are two restaurants "attached" to the Whitehall on the first floor (meaning you don't have to leave the building to get to them). We ate at the Japanese restaurant the night we arrived because we were in a rush to get to a show - it was nothing to write home about, but did in a pinch. The Italian restaurant seemed way overpriced - for breakfast anyway -- but I can't say anything about the food. You are close to several good restaurants on Rush Street, a half a block west and 2-3 blocks north.

"Wonderful Retro Hotel"
It was enjoyable to stay in a hotel nestled in the middle of a city that feels as though you dipped into the 1920s. A fun hotel with a wonderful restaurant and hotel staff. Bartender definitely knows how to mix the classic cocktails. Definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again the next time I visit Chicago!

"Wonderful location and experience"
Spent a few days with my husband and 2 kids (ages 3 and 6) and had a wonderful time. Very nice staff and accommodations. Brunch at the hotel restaurant was amazing on the weekend. Concierge gave good recs for dinner closeby. Grocery a block away which was nice for our 1 bedroom suite. Highly recommend. Also recommend becoming part of their member program (can be done online and is free) to get free wi-fi.
