"Nice hotel close to everything."
The stay was great. Very friendly. Only issue is AC in Japan is usually set a little warm as compared to USA.

"Pretty good hotel..."
Pros: great area and updated bathrooms, free wi-fi Cons: Had to pay for TV (so just used my computer, and the hallways smelled like smoke. I had a non-smoking room, so that was good.

"Two Night Stay"
The hotel is very nice. It felt like I was the first person to stay in the room. The complimentary breakfast was much more complete than anticipated. Highly recommend.

"Impeccable Service"
Yes, the rooms are small, as expected at any Japanese hotel, but super clean, comfortable, and equipped with a fridge! The front desk staff don't speak much English, but plenty enough to check us in, provide us with an area map, and recommend a place to eat. In addition to the five restaurants and bars in the hotel, there's a convenience store across the street, and a yummy bakery one block from the hotel straight out the front door toward the main road. When we walked downstairs with our empty beverage bottles, TWO bell hops approached us to take our trash to recycle. Once, I came to the desk with a question during a tour bus arrival -- a busy time to be sure -- and a staff member stopped his scurrying to notice me and answer my question! It's only a ten minute walk or 170yen 1-stop subway ride to the Chiyoda/Kitanomaru Park moat to see the cherry trees blooming right now.

"Five nights at Hotel Niwa"
We stayed at the Hotel Niwa for 5 nights in June 2015. The comfort twin room was spacious (by Tokyo standards). We a rollaway bed and still had room to move around. Laundry, massage chairs and fitness room on 3rd floor were convenient. Easy access to/from Suidobashi train station (which we used daily with JR Pass) and easy walk to Tokyo Dome. There was no bellman (but not an issue for us). We took a taxi from Tokyo Station rather than take a local train since we had so much luggage. Front desk helped with dinner reservations at SkyTree and arranged for taxi service on checkout day. We did not include the breakfast option and we did not dine at the hotel - so I can't comment on the restaurant quality. Next time we are in Tokyo, we will definitely return to Hotel Niwa.

Great hotel for a couple or business traveler. Stuff is very friendly. Although the room and the bathroom are very small, the layout and smart furnishing makes it comfortable.

"Art Deco Hotel - Great if you want what you get"
I would recommend staying here if you are interested in Art Deco, Tokyo's 20th century past, or just an interesting experience. I stayed here because it has a beautiful Art Deco exterior, and was (is?) a hangout for the literati of Tokyo. The hotel interior gives the impression of being a bit tired. But that is because it is all from the 1950s (?). My room was comfortable; but a bit dowdy. The area around the hotel has many trees. It was a novel experience to wake up in Tokyo to the sound of birdsong! At night I was lulled to sleep by someone playing jazz in the Meiji University dorms adjacent to the hotel. Don't stay in the annex; nothing to recommend it. I'm not sure that I would stay here if you are just coming for tourism and want a modern affordable hotel. If you are coming to Tokyo on the Narita Express, get off at Tokyo station, and change to the Chuo JR line. Go to Ochanomizu (Water for Tea...nice name!). Go out of the station at the Meiji University side. The hotel is 10 minutes walk. It's a hilly area (hence name of hotel). It's an easier walk if you go past the Kandasurugadai post office, and take a left. Have a look at the map inside the station before you exit. This is a great area. There are many used book stores, some of which specialize in European languages. Also many musical instrument stores. Since it is a university area, there are many cheap restaurants; Japanese,Indian, Thai, Chinese, and hamburgers. There are also many bars and coffee houses.

A neighborhood of universities and schools, this area shares the city’s Chiyoda Ward with Otemachi, which is the former site of Shibazaki, the most ancient part of Tokyo. It also offers easy access to the Imperial Palace, home of the emperor and imperial family, and East Gardens, which are open to the public.
