We knew the hotel was located some distance from central Naples so were prepared for having to use taxis as we were not hiring a car. Thanks to other travellers' advice we also knew we should call the hotel on arrival at the airport for them to send a taxi to collect us as this would be cheaper. This worked like a dream and we later found out it was complimentary! Hotel was very quiet during our stay but we made good use of the lovely pool and tennis courts (there is also a new gym and indoor pool next door due to open soon). Breakfast was included which was buffet style, plenty to choose from. We also ate in the restaurant which was very good and not too expensive. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a small parade of shops outside which has a mini supermarket. There is nowhere to really walk to near the hotel apart from a great restaurant Vesuvio and a bar, otherwise you have to get a taxi, the nearest train station is about 3km away. Hotel very accommodating with providing transfers into town, taxi costs around 30 euros to get back. Would definitely recommend this hotel particularly if you had your own car.

The staff was great. They have free parking for guests. Free internet. The Spa is superb. The public beach across the street is dirty and junky. However you are within very short walking distance to much cleaner ones. The breakfast was excellent and very good restaurants all over. The pizza place two doors down is fantastic! I will definitely stay here again

Lets face it Hotel Palazzo Caracciolo is not in the smartest part of town and, on first arrival, seems very isolated.
BUT, it is a very comfortable hotel, has great staff, rooms, bar and relaxation areas.
Get used to the area and you find very warm and down-to-earth locals and it's not that for from the centre of town.
If you arrive by train, as we did, you can walk to the hotel from the station or take Metro 2 to Cavour and catch trolleybus 203 going downhill over the road from the Metro station to Via Carbonara. HOWEVER, before you go DOWNLOAD a public transport map as they seem to be unavailable anywhere in Naples and purchase a Daily Unico Naples Card from any shop selling Tickets. This gives all day transport on Metro and buses.
Get a map and discover the town. What ever you do, experience the Metro 1 station at Toledo and it smart shopping street. Also go on a trip around the underground streets at Via Tribunali, 316 - Piazza San Gaetano through the church of San Lorenzo Maggiore and see the the Grecco Roman world of Naples.
Smart evening drinks and views are on the sea front - take the R2 bus from the bus station. EXPLORE

Hotel was very central and 5 minutes by cab from Train Station. Very welcoming hotel reception Barbara was helpful with where to get great Napoli pizza at the odd time in afternoon. She even called to our Pompeii/Amalfi Coast to confirm tour bus pickup location & showed us how to walk there.

Very comfortable hotel with good access from train station. Staff were friendly and helpfull. The disadvantage is that the hotel is located in an unattractive area with no restaurants in easy walking distance. Although the hotel provides a large compimentary breakfast, lunch is problematic and the dining room on premises offers only a very expensive dinner menu.

Two blocks from Metro, this hotel is in a safe residental area far from the tourist harbor area that is loud, fast and frequently dangerous. The staff is attentive and very helpful. Desk clerk actually went with me next door to phone store and translated so that I could add minutes to my European cell phone.
