My Wife and I stayed at this Hotel for eight nights on our first ever visit to New York City. This was a sightseeing trip and the Hotel proved to be a good choice as a base for our excursions. We chose this Hotel after reading the numerous positive reviews left by previous guests and were not disappointed. We had a quiet room overlooking the interior courtyard, there was no view but this was not important to us as we wanted as much quiet as possible. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room size adequate with a bath and shower. The continental breakfast was fine, including porridge if required, plus tea and coffee plus cakes 24 hours a day and the wine and cheese etc. daily from 5pm until 8pm. All inclusive. Also available were two computers with connecting printer which were useful. The internet connection for our IPad was good and also free. Tony's restaurant was next door, plus there were other restaurants in the same block, reasonably priced with good variety of meals.
We had a late flight and were able to leave our luggage at the Hotel after checking out, enabling us to enjoy our last day in New York not worrying about our luggage, collecting it in time to catch a taxi to the Airport. We also required postage stamps, we were told to leave our post at the Reception desk and they would ensure the post would be stamped and posted. A small point but very helpful to us.

From the moment we stepped onto the hotel property, everything went exceptionally well. The bellman grabbed our bags from the cab. The front desk staff was very friendly. The check-in was a breeze. We were given a complimentary upgrade. Our room was spacious, clean, well-equipped and quiet. Check out was just as easy. Would certainly stay here again and recommend the hotel to anybody wanting to stay in mid-town.

We were very pleased with our daughter's choice of hotel: the facilities and staff were excellent and the hotel benefitted in being slightly away from the main tourist area. We would recommend it to anyone.

Just arrived back from a busy week in New York for my daughters sixteenth birthday. The Strand Hotel was absolutely perfect for us. We walked everywhere from our hotel as it was so central. All major attractions were less than 15-20 minutes walk. And a 2 min walk from the Empire State Building with its fantastic views. We took in a basketball game at Madison Square Garden, A show on Broadway and a couple of fantastic tours with the Grayline Bus Company. Spent a day in Central Park and obviously done some shopping !. All in all a great experience.

Having enjoyed many weekend breaks in New York over the last 15 years (all booked through Expedia) my daughter and I have built up a pretty fair view of a number of Midtown hotels. It would be fair to say that we have never been disappointed. However, in virtually every category, the Kitano comes out top of our list. The location on Park Avenue really could not be bettered. The staff to a man and a woman were wonderfully courteous and helpful. The style and layout of our beautiful corner twin bedded room were perfection. And a very special word of appreciation for concierge Raita who somehow managed to track down a desperately needed dentist on a Sunday morning!
