At first, we were a little apprehensive because of the location which seemed to be in an industrial area. However, once we entered and got settled, we realized how special the hotel was. The sauna was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly.
For people outside of Germany, people using the sauna were naked and it was coed. We were surprises but eventually got used to it, even though we used towels judiciously.

The staffs in front desk are very nice. Free parking is offered. The guestroom is clean and spacy. Free WIFI can be used in the guestroom but there is a limit of 100MB. Technoseum is within walking distance from the hotel.

A stop over for a night on the way back to The Netherlands and we wished we'd been able to have stayed longer. Heidelberg is beautiful and our room would fit other rooms we had stayed in twice over.
I can understand comments about it being stark, however the beds and pillows were clean and comfortable, there was a whole extra room for a wardrobe and plenty of space for the suitcases.
The sauna area was lovely a d the breakfast fab.

I visited Mannheim second time now for Time Warp festival. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. You could feel spirit of festival right at your first steps. Hotel has really good location very close to Water tower and historical center of town. If you dont want to use hotel restaurant there is many nice stylish restaurants around. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff friendly and efficient. Me and my group will definately be back next year. Well done Dorint

We loved this hotel in an old castle situated in an area full of ancient history, old keeps, impressive palaces and marvelous nature.
The first room was very large, the bed comfortable and the surroundings very quiet. The only reason why we couldn't remain our entire stay in this room was the Internet. The hotel had a 16 Megabit per second connection but the access point near our room was defect. Staff went out of their way helping us but finally, even though it made us sad, we had to change rooms. The second room was not quite as large but quiet and comfortable.
The breakfast (included in the room rate) was excellent. Just one suggestion: Do not sleep in (and arrive after 9:30 AM) if you want to get boiled or scrambled eggs. If you want European specialty coffees just ask the server.
Talking about food: Have dinner in the restaurant located on the castle-hotel's property. Food is excellent, even though a bit pricey.
