We had a very good experience at the Rio Del Mar. Although we had to wait in line awhile to check in, we were rewarded with an upgrade to a suite with an amazing view of the ocean. The room was large, beautiful and so comfortable. We loved it. The pools were great, and we appreciated having an "adults only" pool. That said, the 'hot' tub was only a few degrees warmer than the pool, which was disappointing. The beach in front of the hotel is a wide strip of nice, soft sand, but it was littered with seaweed and trash. We wondered why on earth the hotel did not clean / rake the beachfront daily. The restaurants were standard for PR resorts (i.e., overpriced and not great), but we absolutely fell in love with the pork nachos at the lobby bar! Not all resturants were open every night, and it was a bit of a challenge to figure this out. The staff at the hotel were so friendly and warm. However, we were very put off by the concierge staff. They all seemed to be trying to meet a condo or other service sales quota. We elected to make our own arrangements for activities, restaurants, etc. Overall, I would recommend the Rio Del Mar.

From the moment I arrive until the moment I left I felt pampered and honored. The facilities were vast and gorgeous, the staff friendly and accommodating and the setting was breathtaking. The thing that impressed me most was that each time I encountered a member of the staff they would bow their head slightly, lower their eyes a gently place their right hand over their hear to say "you are special" - I truly felt that way there.
