Relais Castrum Boccea

Via S.S. Mario e Marta 27, Rome - Map

"Tuscany in Roma; best of both worlds."
Living in a major city we were hoping to stay outside of Rome's city limits to experience Italy on a more intimate level, rather than the hustle and bustle of city life we are used to. Staying at Relais Castrum Boccea was exactly what we were looking for and were so pleased with our stay. It is the best of both the country side and being able to reach Rome in a short time. To start, he view is absolutely breathtaking. Set atop a hill in what feels the country side (30 minutes outside of Rome), we got the serenity we were looking for. We were able to watch both the sunrise and sunset on the beautiful hotel grounds. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very delicious pizzeria up the road, less than a mile. Cute little shop to get meats, cheese and wine from a country store. Staying here gave us a more Italian experience than tourist museums and ancient ruins. My only advice would be if you are thinking of staying here, stay at least 3-4 nights. I suggest this because if you use the van to hitch a ride into the city, you only get ~7hours to explore the city. .By the time you arrive, ~1030 (due to traffic), it does not give you must time to leisurely walk around the city.

"a little out of the way"
the staff was very friendly and well spoken, hotel was very nice, breakfast ok.taxis are very expensive and some of them dont know the way even though they had a satnav. the area where the hotel is called tivoli make sure you have the right address. because on the hotel website the address is wrong. its opposite a famous tv station. theres a news agent near by the shop owners are very friendly and nice. hotel was a bit far from the center of rome.bus stops right in front of the hotel which will take you to metro station. from there you can get a train to central rome colosseum, palazzo, piazza di spangna and other attractions.get a sightseeing bus thats the best way to see rome. people are very friendly and will help you if you are lost. be prepared for tourist tax charged @ of 3 euro per person per night, so that was a bit of a shock for us.

"Great hotel for everyone!"
The hotel is about 30 minutes outside of Rome, which we didn't notice when booking. We searched Rome hotels and it was listed. Getting to and from the hotel and the train station was a challenge! After 3 days there, I'm still unsure the best way to travel this route. We took the train to Pomezia station and then a bus to a stop close to hotel. But we did have to walk a ways dragging our luggage and under an underpass which did not feel safe. A taxi would be better but is more expensize! The hotel is beautiful! The wifi only works in the lobby though.

Albergo Ottocento

Via dei Cappuccini 19, Rome - Map

"Excellent European Boutique Hotel"
Albergo Ottocento is immaculate. It's on a small, quiet (for Rome) streeet. We overlooked the street but had no problem with noise. The front desk is available 24/7. Breakfast included eggs, cereal, fruit, rolls/cakes, cappuccino/coffee, and was very tasty. Service was good, particularly with arranging transportation to the airport. The rooms are small by American standards. For example, we had a deluxe room, which had no bureau. If you can get past that, it's an excellent little hotel.

"Nice hotel close to metro"
Staff at the hotel were very friendly and very helpfull. Room was great, breakfast was good, and the hotel is located in a nice residential area. The metro is close by if you don't want to walk, but we would walk as far as we could, and usually take the metro home. The Re di Roma area has a lot of great places for food, pastries, and gelato as well as being close to Via Appia Nuova where there is a lot of shopping. Close to the hotel is a great restaurant, Trattoria Re di Roma at 40 via Tuscolana. Highly recommend this place. Staff were great there. Within walking distance is Pompi, where they have the best tiramisu and I recommend heading to Procopio for gelato. There are two grocery stores nearby for water or whatever you need. All in all, this area is one of my favorite, quiet and not so dull of tourists. Highly recommend it.

"Good Hotel"
Although expensive it is a good hotel to stay and very quiet compared to the road traffic. Location is great and very central. Unfortunately it appears that in Rome hotels are very pricey and at the same time you do not get value for money. We enjoyed Stay Inn and would always recommend it.
