"Perfect hotel"
Everything about this hotel was great. Arrived late morning and our room was ready for check-in. Easy walk to most of what Rome has to offer. If Vatican is too far of a walk, Metro from Termini station will take you there. Neighborhood is safe, many shops and local bars/trattorie. Large grocery store near S. Maria Maggiore is well stocked with food and wine. Breakfast was decent with a large spread of pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit and hot bacon/scrambled eggs. Morning of check out, we departed too early for breakfast. Front desk had prepared a breakfast bag filled with apples, croissants, jam, juice etc. Fantastic!

"Good hotel"
We had a stop over in Rome for briefy 2 days before our Greece trip. We are travelling with a young child. The hotel is just perfect for us. It is very close to the Termini and a lot of sites are within walking distance. The communal area is well presented. Our room is spacious and very clean. The deco is traditional. As other reviews mentioned, the furniture is slightly old, but we feel it reflects the city's character. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is good. The bed is sligtly hard but it didn't bother us. Only downside is that our room is facing the main road. On Saturday night it was a bit noisy. Having said that, we still managed for a good sleep.

"Excellent hotel,clean and very comfortable."
Enjoyed 3 nights stay with no problems whatsoever.(Having read some of the reviews after booking we were a little concerned.) However our room - a superior double- was perfect. Spacious, clean and comfortable- bed changed on the second night, a lovely firm mattress on the bed, which we prefer so extra comfortable for us. Tea/coffee facilities in the room with loads of the usual bathroom freebies-shampoos etc. Windows were extra glazed with shutters to keep any noise out. Breakfast was good value too with lots of choice and the staff very helpful and friendly.Would definitely stay again.

"Perfect Location for Rome"
It is the 3rd time I come to Rome in this hotel and always good. This time the Room was a little different, (some issues with Pluming) but still OK. I like the good price, nice room, internet and perfect location in Rome.

"Charming hotel in an excellent location"
The hotel is an older traditional non-chain hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit this lovely city. The rooms were nice and clean, decorations a little tired perhaps but charming non-the-less. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is a good varied continental buffet style with plenty of choice. You can order a cooked breakfast at an additional cost of around 8 to 12 Euros. We had booked a triple room for us and our 14 year old daughter but were given a complimentary upgrade to two rooms instead. We had a lovely 4th floor view over the square at the front and our daughter's room overlooked the picturesque rooftops at the back of the hotel. The Hotel is on the edge of a pedestrianized area. It is in an excellent central location within easy walking distance of all the famous sights. We only used a taxi for the trips to and from the Airport, (30 minute drive, 55 - 65 Euros). Approximate walking times: Spanish steps,10 minutes. Trevi Fountain 10 minutes. Vatican/St Peters 30 minutes. Pantheon, 10 minutes. Roman forum 20 minutes, Coliseum 25 minutes, (tip, buy combined ticket for forum and Coliseum at the Forum entrance off the Via de Fori Imperiali after looking at the Tragan column and market. This avoids the HUGE queues at the coliseum, do the forum first, emerge at the eastern end and then go to the coliseum, you then go to the head of the queue, central line). We would thoroughly recommend the hotel.

"Great location, excellent staff"
Ludovisi is small hotel located in the Via Veneto area of Rome. It is within reasonable walking distance of the Barberini and Spagna Metro stations. Our room was a little small for three people, but the beds were comfortable and the room had enough storage for three women with a week's worth of clothes, etc, There is a wine shop, tabacco shop and bar (for take away panini and beverages) on the street, just a few steps away. The area has plenty of eateries within a short walking distance. The personnel is very friendly and very helpful. We especially liked Paolo, who greeted us upon arrival and was full of helpful hints and always greeted us with a smile and cheerful, "buon giorno/sera" . We also greatly appreciated the kind and cheerful help of the German fellow (we didn't get his name) who helped us very early in the morning when our pre-arranged airport shuttle failed to arrive. He got us a cab very quickly and provided cheerful moral support, keeping us from getting too nervous about missing our flight. There was a variety of items for breakfast; eggs, italian bacon, cereal, various breads/croissants, cheese, sliced meat, yogurt and even a dessert selection. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

"Great hotel apartment close to tourist attractions"
This hotel was fabulous! We are a family of four travelling and were pleasantly surprised when our apartment was actually three rooms with an additional single sofa bed so the children did not gave to share the other double sofa bed. It was in a slightly more non touristy section of Rome and yet so close to all attractions. The Roman Forum were so close we could see them from our window. There were not a lot of restaurants in this part of the city (although it was Winter) but the few were fantastic, authentic restaurants/cafés. The best Gelato we found was one block away and on the weekend a farmers market with plenty of fresh food options was opened in the next block. There were also a couple of grocery stores but we found we didn't need them anyway. The staff at the hotel were fantastic and extremely gracious and patient as we do not speak any Italian. They apologised for their English but ALL staff spoke perfect English. You are just so close to everything that while we bought hop on hop off bus tickets for three days we only used them to go to the first (and furthest) location each day then wandered back seeing the sites or occasionally catching a taxi from the city - which would cost about seven to eight euro. The buffet breakfast was fresh and clean and the staff member always pleasant, professional and helpful. Her greeting each morning added to our fantastic experience. We would highly recommend!

Grand Hotel Olympic

"It may not be the Hilton"
It may not be the Hilton but it's excellent location makes the Olympic one of the best. All you need to do is type Grand Olympic Hotel, Rome, Italy into Google Earth and follow the path from the front entrance to within two blocks from Vatican City, all of the shops, restaurants, bistros, cafés, and more start within feet of the hotel and run all the way over the Tiber River Bridge to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, dozens of basilicas, attractions, hand sewn leather shops, gelato and coffee shops, and just everything you want to see. The rooms are an average size and comfortable for two, the bathroom is quite large and contains a toilet, bidet, and very cramped shower and no tub (odd for such a large bathroom). The staff is very pleasant and eager to assist in anyway they can to make your stay more enjoyable.
