"Attractive well designed hotel right on the beach."
First time in the Seychelles, this hotel lived well up to expectations. We had a lovely view from our room balcony over the Indian Ocean (well the foliage had grown up a bit too much for a perfect view actually, but it did not detract from the peace and quiet. The adjacent room's balcony also overlooked ours, but did not prove a problem). No pool, but the beach was literally on the doorstep.
The Cote d'Or village was also a delight, with plenty of facilities (Cash Plus exchange, ATM (only into rupees), mini markets in which the beer and water was much cheaper, and of course restaurants). On the final couple of days we hired a car (E50 per day) and explored the whole island, but concluded we had landed in the right place. Buses are very cheap but vary in reliability.
Trips across to La Curieuse island, where the giant tortoises are located and where an excellent barbecue is provided for lunch and with snorkeling in the afternoon, all for E65, is well worth doing, but beware the beach-boys' tricks. In addition you have to pay SCR 200 for the landing tax, and if there are two of you you are likely to hand over a SCR500 note. Instantly there is a change of subject in the conversation and the SCR100 change does not materialise. They will acknowledge the debt if challenged, but are adept at making up excuses for not having it on them. Get the boy's name early when relations are good, and then later take a photo of him and threaten to go to the police. It works wonders!

Great experience with spacious villas. For an ideal quiet getaway as compared to say Bau Vallon on the north west side of Mahe which is getting busier with more resorts going up and more traffic. The resort manager Ilreka is great and assisted us in every way. The resort is located in Port Glaud is on the west side of Mahe (approx. 40mins drive to Victoria) so you will require a car for touring, restaurants and getting provisions.

This hotel has a lot of charme, a true luxury experience with local flair which sets itself apart from the usual rack of 5 Star franchise hotels. Bungalows are spread out over a charming hilly estate, and the whole place has kind of a special "Zen" atmosphere about it (architecture, color scheme, etc.). Beautifully crafted pool with swim-up bar and centrally set a la carte restaurant. The hotel beach is average but, hey, you are on La Digue and the world's most photographed beach is only a 10 minute bike ride away (opens at 8 am, come early and you'll have it for yourself...). Bikes are in good quality and supplied free of charge. There are more, equally beautiful and less populated beaches towards the Northern end of the island (5, 10 and 20 minutes by bike). The spa has stunning views and was amazingly crafted into the granite rocks (we didn't get to try it, though, as there were too many other things to do). Management and staff were very attentive.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff and I mean all of them, from the room cleaners, the waitresses, even the chef, to the management. Always a smile, polite and friendly, giving you space when you want it but there when you need them. They really do take great care of you from airport transfer to small touches like extra beach towels.
The resort is quiet, only 24 chalets, secluded positioning, jungly with amazing birds and bats flying ahead. The rooms are very spacious, colonial and have the biggest bathrooms I have ever seen in any hotel with an amazing outdoor shower. No shops here etc but a 10 minute or so trip across-using the boat provided by the hotel- to Eden island provides you with a modern shopping mall with restaurants galore, and a gateway to explore the main island and the bonus is the short trip to the airport. The hotel restaurant provides a fresh breakfast, great coffee and although the evening menu is limited it was always varied and I looked forward to the chef's puddings, which were delightfully unusual. All the dishes were beautifully presented, always fresh and tasty. The homemade salted cassava crisps at the bar were a personal favourite.
With 2 pools and 2 beaches, there are no crowds. Great snorkelling direct from the beach. Also a short trip to the St Anne island nature reserve that makes up this archipelago.
This is a place that you can stretch, your mind and limbs..
