"Perfect location"
My first visit to Barbados and it certainly will not be my last. The hotel was small and very friendly with excellent food, plenty of choice and always good quality. Perfect location for both the beach and the town. Our room was a little noisy on Sunday nights when the local bar has a street karaoke night, but if you take the oppotunity to join them rather than fight them, it's actually great fun.

"Fabulous stay"
We have just returned from a fabulous week at the Waves hotel in Barbados. We had a wonderful time, and as Expedia Club members we received VIP treatment which only enhanced our stay. We were greeted by friendly knowledgeable staff. We found the service at the hotel was excellent, the hotel location is fabulous, the beach is small, but you can easily walk to the other beaches, and daily we went for hour long walks on the beach. The staff was attentive and helpful. We took the Bajan Bus tour with Virgin tours (organized at the hotel), it was fabulous, and Ricardo and Alvin are very knowledgeable about the island and we learned so much about Barbados. Friday night tour to Oistins, was culturally fun and a great environment, food was good also. Our room was perfect, ocean front (#104), the beds were comfortable, we lacked nothing. The food was in abundance (they even served afternoon tea), the food was great, our favorite restaurant was Feast which is on the site across the street (non beach side). Great big thank yous to: Lionel, Jimmy, Kathy Ann, Katrina, Jacqueline, Kathleen, Alicia, Tennisyn and everyone else (apologies to those we did not mention). We will definitely recommend the Waves Hotel to our friends. Room Tip: Choose a room in the main building, preferably ocean front.

Pocket Guide: Barbados St. James 4 stars Independent Hotels

With a few billionaire residents, St. James is nicknamed the Platinum Coast. This scenic flatland hosts a few large golf courses and Paynes Bay Beach, a local favorite good for swimming. Holetown, the parish’s largest city, marks the spot where English colonists landed in 1625. There, the main drag teems with restaurants. Barbados’ highest point, Mt. Hillaby, rises due east of Holetown.
