"Ticked all the boxes for a relaxing winter break"
Excellent all round experience for our holiday. Spacious clean rooms, friendly helpful staff. Location perfect for a short break (1 week) no reason to go anywhere except the beach. Plenty to do for teenage kids water sports etc. nightclubs round the corner. Cocktails were great and plenty of them too. Food was very acceptable, though we preferred buffet style meals as it was quicker in and out back on to the beach ! There was plenty of fish on the menu and salads. Bar service on the beach was a real treat with cooling flannels to take the heat out of the day. The hotel was relaxed and easy going, despite the evening dress code which we didn't mind at all.

Pocket Guide: Barbados St. James 4 stars Pet-friendly Hotels

With a few billionaire residents, St. James is nicknamed the Platinum Coast. This scenic flatland hosts a few large golf courses and Paynes Bay Beach, a local favorite good for swimming. Holetown, the parish’s largest city, marks the spot where English colonists landed in 1625. There, the main drag teems with restaurants. Barbados’ highest point, Mt. Hillaby, rises due east of Holetown.
