Recommended: We had a wondeful time in London and a big part of that was our hotel. Big room, great bathroom. and the best service imaginable. Tons of ethnic restaurants that provided fine dining. Convenient location with access to Underground just up the street. Would stay there again. Kudos to the personnel who were very helpful. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: We'd stay here again. The room was small and the carpet was threadbare but clean. The service from the maid to the concierge to the check in was great. There was a kitchen fire while we were there and the hotel had to be evacuated which was exciting but all the staff was extremely helpful both during and after. They refunded 1/2 of the room cost for that night. The location next to Victoria station was handy since the that also meant there was several underground routes and bus lines here. Recommended: The staff was very polite and very helpful. We had an issue with not being able to understand how to use the shower. The information card was not hanging on the shower head so we could see it. The card had been placed under the large towels on the rack. The maintainence man was VERY helpful in explaining the details and brought us an information card. However, the card had only a diagram for two of the knobs. There were four things to manipulate in order to get the water flow and temperature to function. We had to have instructions on how to use the switches on the wall that controlled the electricity to the plugs on the wall. We also needed instructions on how to operate the heat/ac control. The office staff was not clear about how to work the heat/ac control. The maintenance man told us the ac was off because it was winter; the recptionist failed to tell us this fact. Once these issues were solved, we loved our stay and would choose this hotel again. Hotel breakfast was fabulous, but pricey. See all reviews for this hotel

Not recommended: I travel overseas a few times a year. But, this was my first trip to London and I wanted to stay somewhere close to a major landmark. Other then being across the street from Buckingham Palace, this hotel was lacking. When we checked into the hotel the front desk staff informed us that they would gladly exchange money for us. I found out later that they meant they would gladly give me directions to the nearest Bureau of Change in order to change money. I asked the front desk staff on three different occasions to change money from US to Pounds Sterling and once from Pounds Sterling to Euros; each time I was directed to the nearest Bureau of Change. The Concierge was useless. None of the many people working this desk were able to direct us to any local spots including, decent restaurants, bars, spas, or anything else. Each time we were told that they were not sure and that we should look it up on-line. The only thing they were able to do was hail a cab. The rooms are small but, expected for European hotels. The rooms were clean and well kept by the maid staff. I would not stay here again and have already told a few friends planning on a London vacation that they should not stay here. This was a crappy hotel and the only thing going for it was that its' location made my 3am walk home from the bars rather simple. Everyone in London knows where the Palace is located. Dolphin House

Recommended: A bit off the beaten path - a short bus ride or walk to Victoria Station - but amazingly quiet. Close to the Embankment, beautiful gardens, good service, nice pool and fitness club, onsite convenience stores, free laundry machines, very low rates for phone calls. We chose the apartment style room which had a nice kitchen, so we were able to eat in when we wanted. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: We had a great 4 night stay in their rated "superior" room. Our first London trip, we wanted "old world charm." A little pricey, but location was important. We like the winding halls to get to our room. Not the plushest room, bathroom was adequate/nice. the mattress was firm w/soft pillow-top-comfortable; flat-screen TV. The hotel staff were pleasant/accommodating. Asked for king bed-it was 2 sgls. They sent hskpg up quickly to "zip" them together to make a king w/kg. linen. Internet svc. was (15 pnds max/24 hrs). We were told we would only be charged for what we used/day, but at checkout were charged the max each day. They removed excess chgs. off the bill at checkout. Location was perfect-around the corner from Buckingham Palace and close to 2 Tube entrances. The concierge/s were most helpful with directions. All in all a very good experience. I would stay there again, and hope we can come back again - 4 days was not enough to see all we wanted to see/do. See all reviews for this hotel

Home to some of London's most famous institutions the Houses of Parliament (Big Ben), Westminster Abbey, and Tate Britain Westminster is busy by day and quiet by night. Buckingham Palace is located across lovely St. James's Park; Whitehall leads to Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, passing 10 Downing Street and the Queen's mounted troops at Horse Guards on the way.
