As a solo female traveller the hotel felt safe and was comfortable. The staff were pleasant and did their best to give advice on restaurants and transport. However, at times there were minor communication difficulties due to language barriers. The buffet breakfast was substantial and varied. The gym looked well equipped, although I didn't use it. The hotel is centrally located. It was possible to walk to Malioboro in less than 10 minutes & the Kraton was about a 30 minute walk. The airport was only a 20 minutes drive at 5.45am. Later in the day it will probably take twice as long because of traffic. I would stay at the Grand Zuri again.

Really beautiful hotel in the middle of countryside but as it's not near anything else we were very reliant on the services at the hotel.
The staff were pleasant and friendly but the level of service was fairly poor. I emailed in advance to book a car for a day trip and received acknowledgement. There was no record when we arrived but they said they would arrange one for 7:30 am. At 7:30 they told us their car was fully booked and that they would need to call another which would take at least half an hour.
We also booked spa treatments a day in advance & were told 10 mins after they should have started that some weren't available.
The food was also pretty bad which is a real shame as it's so isolated and Javanese food is so good.
Overall it could be a fantastic place but I was disappointed with our stay.
