The tone was set when we arrived and before we had crossed the threshold our baggage had disappeared with the doormen, we were welcomed by name (identified by our luggage tags) and promptly upgraded from a room with two double beds and view, to a junior suite. The room was excellently appointed, with so many gadgets and thoughtful touches that we were still finding things out while leaving (e.g. the mirror in the bathroom has an integral tv screen!). It is an expensive hotel, but unlike other places I have stayed I felt the cost was more than matched by the standard of accommodation and service. Highlights included watching a firework display in the distance from the uncrowded rooftop terrace while a pianist played, use of the beautiful spa facilities with no one else around, and being offered a bottle of water when I returned from a morning run around the Tiergarten.

The hotel was excellent, the rooms were of a very high standard and even the non-cathedral view rooms still have a pleasant view of the internal courtyard and are not overlooked.
The hotel bar is a little expensive but the food is delicious and of good quality, I did not eat in the restaurant.
The gym and pool area are well equipped and free to guests, if you have time on your trip it is worth visiting these for a little time out.
All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The concierge is helpful and honest which is a bonus.
We were also able to check into our rooms early so if you do arrive before check in it is worth going to the hotel to see if your room is ready.
