Food - plentiful, a huge selection, something for all tastes - from home comforts to the exotic. The buffets (breakfast and evening) are eye-popping!
Staff - they were extremely pleasant and courteous, from the beach attendants to the waiters; there wasn't a weak link anywhere.
The beach - spotlessly clean, plenty of loungers to choose from. A restaurant withing yards, but who are also happy to bring it to your sun-lounger.
The water - Pools = vast, spotless, heated/normal, no shortage of loungers. "Lazy river" = great fun and for us it was a daily must. The sea = clean, clear and calm. I cannot find fault with any of it.
Room - very spacious, excellent room service and housekeeping, air-conditioning & fan.
Other - we dined one evening at the on-site French restaurant - Alexander's; first class dining and well worth a visit. My wife went to the Spa for a massage and loved it!
There were many different nationalities staying there, who helped make it a wonderful stay. The atmosphere is a very friendly one, without night-time noise (at least to my knowledge).
The clientele ranged from elderly couples to young couples, to young families; from what I saw, there's something for everyone.
We (my wife, daughter and I) agreed that we would definitely go back.

I stayed at the Marriott for 6 days with my husband for our honeymoon. It was great; the beach bar staff were fantastic, all staff were friendly, there were lots of activities and things to do at the hotel, and everywhere was neat and clean. We got a cake made and sent to the room when the hotel learned we were on honeymoon as well! It was very sweet and thoughtful of them.
There was a pretty even mix of families and couples, with some groups of friends staying there as well. There was also an even mix of Egyptian and foreign people staying at the hotel. Lots of food choices at all meals, with both Egyptian and western kinds to eat, and the hotel was quick to fix any issues we had with facilities.
Within easy reach of New Marina, this Hurghada hotel is nestled on the beach.More
I stayed there with a friend for a little under a week. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously. If I have to make one comment about a shortcoming, I would say the themed restaurants (Greek, Asian, Lebanese), were "OK". I expected a bit more of a culinary delight, but the ambience more than makes up for it. Overall: highly recommended, and a well-kept secret.

I spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in this wonderful hotel and enjoyed my stay thoroughly. I travelled alone but never felt alone, all of the staff took good care of me.
The premises are huge but very well looked after and spotlessly clean.
The food was not superior but ok and plenty of it, beside the main buffet resto there were seven other à la carte restaurants ( I loved the asian , the mexican and the italian).
One small point of critique: the sparrows everywhere in the main resto and the outdoor bars were a bit of a pain in the neck talking about hygiene.
The service people were all very nice, friendly and unobtrusive. They never expected any tip and that made it easy for me to do lots of tipping because they deserved it!
The receptionists were always helpful and some of them were stars ( big thank to the night manager Salah Mahdy). And finally the animation team, what a gorgeous bunch of happy-go-lucky people! They made my holiday with their versatile programme, I can't thank them enough, special thanks to Silvia and Chico who were gorgeous, so helpful and always so cheerful and lovely!
All in all a highly recommendable hotel, not only for couples or families, also for single travellers like me.

Wake up to the ocean at your door at this resort, which is located by the sea and set on its own private sand beach.More
Stunning hotel and helpful staff although has the slightly impersional feeling of a large multi national hotel chain. Definitely worth paying extra for a sea view room as the view is magical.
Breakfast buffet is fantastic. They do a great smoked salmon eggs benedict!
Food in the restaurants is expensive. Evening buffet is €40 for all you can eat 3 courses but you can actually just have 1 or 2 courses which is cheaper although this is not advertised. Strangley the a la carte menu is quite reasonable. Room service is fast and cheap.
Still and sparkling mineral water is completely free all day which is lovely.
Breakers Hotel next door does a delicious buffet, 3 courses for €25 but you have to pay for water there.
Soma Bay is a very secluded unspoilt resort of only 4 hotels, a golf course and a small marina for dive boats. Guests when we stayed were mostly retired Europeans playing golf. You certainly escape from the hassle of haggling traders here.
The hotel transfer was €40 and was excellent. It's a 45 min drive from the airport. The hotel rep met us straight off the plane with visas and saved us queuing like everyone else.
There is a super beach and diving or snorkelling on the house reef with Orca Dive Centre is first rate. We saw turtles, moray eels, lion fish, all a short swim from the Maldives-style jetty. Dive boats leave twice daily from the marina to other reefs.
All in all a wonderful holiday.

This is our 3rd visit to this hotel over a period of more than 10 years. The quality and standards are consistently high and have remained so throughout this period. Every member if staff seems to go out of their way to greet guests and make them feel welcome. The facilities of this resort are of an excellent standard. There is a small reef off the hotel beach so bring a snorkel and beach shoes (the coral is sharp!) and explore a little. This is perfect for children new to snorkelling or those who don't have much time, but want a brief snorkelling experience. We have stayed as a couple and with 2 children aged 6 and younger and can say comfortably that the hotel caters to both groups with ease. We will definitely return!
