Capple Bank Farm is in a lovely setting surrounded by rolling countryside and the owners own immaculate gardens.
We received a very friendly welcome from the owners with tea and cake in the drawing room on arrival.
We stayed in the barn which was a beautifully renovated room with modern facilities and was spotlessly clean.
We ate at two local restaurants in the evenings, The Wensleydale Heifer, which was within walking distance, and The Forester's Arms which was a 5 minute drive away. The food was fantastic in both places as was the service and the very friendly staff.
We stayed B&B at the farm and the breakfasts prepared for us both mornings were delicious.
I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here and will look forward to returning at a future date.

Really a nice place, small but really well done. My room was spacious, full bath separate, lots of extras in room, an actual electric teapot and lovely selection of teas and snacks plus wine glasses. Great breakfast in a nice dining room with a view, and the owners/staff are extremely friendly. Really loved staying here and would absolutely recommend.

Kexby House proved to be an excellent place to stay for exploring York and the surrounding area. Situated just 20 mins drive outside York on the Hull road, this proved to be a rather charming choice of accommodation. We stayed for the weekend and due to leaving it to the last minute to book, found accommodation in York both limited and expensive. Kexby House was a fantastic find and offered phenomenal value when compared to the sterile and faceless generic chain hotels charging at least £100 more. The classicaly styled interior gave it a surprisingly opulent feeling and the 'Pink Room' in which we stayed was perfect, with some sherry and freshly baked Parkin bread awaiting us inside.
Frederick, the owner was extremely welcoming, helpful and attentive throughout our stay. A true Yorkshire gentleman with his own unique brand of humour. The Breakfast was first class and the freshly made sausages were fantastic along with the freshly laid eggs, all produced on site.
We had travelled by train so did not have a car but found the transport links were excellent, with a bus stop outside offering a regular service into York (X46), or a £17-20 taxi journey.
An excellent stay which was well worth the money.
