This was my husband's first time in Paris, and after reading other reviews of this hotel, I decided to book the Eiffel Tower view room for a couple of nights. I went to the Shangra La website and joined the Golden Circle club before we left (it's free). From the moment we walked through the front door, we did not want to leave this hotel. Although it's a fairly recent addition to the Paris hotel scene, the building was originally the "townhouse" of Roland Bonaparte, Napoleon's nephew. It's more of a town palace - beautiful drawing rooms, which now serve as the lounge, bar, and stunning ballrooms. There are also 3 restaurants, one with 2 Michelin stars, and one with 1. There's a spa with an exquisite pool area and a lovely garden.
But all that pales in comparison to the room. They gave us the best room on the floor, on the corner facing the Eiffel Tower. We could lie in bed and look at the tower and out over the rooftops of Paris day and night. We could do the same in the bathtub in the huge bathroom. The "king" bed was more like two queens put together. It could easily have slept 5! My husband was so taken with the view, it was hard to get him out of the room. Every convenience was there, including wooden shoe trees for him.
Beyond that, it was everything you'd expect from a world class 5-star hotel - beautiful, artful surroundings, impeccable service, immediate attention to any problem, multilingual staff who goes above and beyond even the most trivial request.

We stayed here for a long weekend. From the moment we entered the hotel until we checked out the hotel staff treated us like we were part of their family. Great recommendations for what we should see and eat and excellent recommendations for unique shops and good value. Our room was spotless. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was amazing. We can't wait to go back.

A beautiful hotel, full of character and perfectly located. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is superb and the bar provides a space for a quiet drink.
It is an older hotel, so some of the rooms can be a little small in comparison with more modern hotels. They are, nevertheless, very charming.
A truly enjoyable experience.

I go to Paris every year. I've tried many hotels/neighborhoods across the $$ spectrum, from the Plaza Athenee & Ritz on down. I think this is a gem with a blue chip location, and excellent service. The staff was exceptional: helpful, friendly, warm, etc. The only complaint is that our non-smoking room was invaded by the heavy smoking in adjacent rooms. The guests on our floor not only seemed to spend the entire day in their room…but spent the entire day smoking. Often, they would prop open their doors…so the smoke filled the halls, and consequently, our room. The hotel insisted that their was nothing they could do about it.

We stayed in the hotel for two nights. We arrived too early and we arrived with friends who had booked another room. Ours was ready early (by about noon) and theirs a couple of hours later. We were allowed in our room without any extra fees, and their luggage was put in our room without any fuss. The hotel is perfectly situated, the room size adequate, the cleanliness of the hotel and the efficiency of the staff was as good as any of the best hotels in the world and I have stayed at some of them. Besides that, the staff was gracious and pleasant at all times. If I have a complaint, it's that you don't get extras without cost, some of them hidden (like replacement of water which was originally supplied free) and that the dining costs are somewhat high. But these things are minor and one shouldn't be put off by them...just be forewarned. Oh yes, it was nice walking out of the door or the Maurice or the Ritz and being near the center of the real Paris shopping area, the gardens, the Louvre, etc. but it's worth the cab and there is no hotel in Paris that is near all the places you want to see.
