A1 experience from check in to check out. Great location close to 'must see' sites, museums and panoramas of the magnificent old imperial capital of Russia. The building is a well preserved and meticulously restored 18th century palace. It's worthwhile to spend several hours exploring and admiring the interiors. The hotel's atmosphere calls for 'slowing down', look around and enjoy staying in cozy luxury.

A very grand ( and very large) hotel. Rooms large and comfortable.
We had an issue on our last day as we had extended our stay by one day after staying there at the end of our Volga cruise. We were charged for their very expensive breakfast ( though I must add it is the most magnificent spread I have ever seen). Our other 3 nights had included breakfast. On complaining, they reversed the charge.

We stayed here in October 2014; the rooms are very reasonable, offset by expensive food/drink ($9.00 beer!). However we feel this is by far the best option in St. Petersburg. It's about a 15-minute walk to the Hermitage. The hotel has a swanky feel; the concierge is awesome (in fact, we were spoiled by this--not an easy find in other hotels at this price range!). The rooms are clean, spacious, and have heated bathroom floors (absolutely luxurious!). Best of all, the spa area is out-of-this-world (it was included in our room package)--it's like the World's Fair of spas--so many to choose from. We spent several evenings just indulging in them. There are also exercise classes (yoga, etc.). We booked our entire stay effortlessly online, and then returned after a week of travels and decided we couldn't beat this hotel so ended up staying here again. Highly recommended.

The hotel is great. Nice, clean, great location.
The breakfast was OK, but better the earlier you get there. Items on the buffet aren't replenished readily, but will be if asked for. They do have an menu to order other breakfast items that aren't out on the buffet.
There were a couple of nights when we were concerned about noise from wedding receptions, but it all stopped at 23:00 or 23:30. Even when playing, it wasn't too bad. We were on the third floor, in the back - not street side. That may have made a difference.
The "air conditioning" is more a whole building system with no controls in the room. It wasn't too much of a problem, though. At least not during the time of year we were visiting (May - but a warm May for St. Petersburg.)

The hotel is definitely 4 star. However, the hotel is not near anything, which we thought was a plus. It also means that you have to arrange for transportation to visit every place in St. Petersburg, unless you can figure out how to use their bus/rail system.

This hotel is just perfect!!! The room was amazing, very comfortable and with an unbelievable level of luxury! The bathroom is huge and the shower is just like being under a waterfall, so delicious! The staff is helpful and very nice and the concierge did everything he could to help us with our requests in terms of reservations for spectacles and dinner. The bar at the hotel has an excellent and fine selection of snacks and drinks, service is great! Breakfast is very good and location is also very convenient. If you are a guest of the hotel, you buy special tickets at the hotel to get to the Hermitage Museum without having to wait in line. They can arrange a guide and also a private boat tour if you wish. What surprised me is that the prices we pay at the hotel were much cheaper than the ones that were offered on web sites (guide, taxis, pick up t airport, boat trips, etc) so don't be intimidate by the 5 star of the hotel and go ahead and ask the concierge about anything regarding dinning out, boat trips, guide, tickets and transportation, they absolutely helpful and speak excellent English.
