Great location for a weekend breakPosted Feb 18, 2013
Pros: Clean and well maintained. Great breakfast. Excellent location in a lovely city. Friendly staff.
Cons: The noise from the street. Ask for a room away from the street but noise in city hotels is difficult to avoid.
Location: Central Aachen location couldn't be better. Very close to Dom,Schatzkammer,Markt, shopping, restaurants and bars.Only 15 mins walk to Carolus Thermen.
We visit Aachen several times a year and have passed this hotel many times. We knew the location was excellent and it always looked nice from the outside so when we decided to book a last minute weekend away and saw a great price on Expedia it didn't take much persuading. Check-in was friendly, quick and efficient. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. Beds were comfortable, plenty of storage space and a room safe. The bathroom was clean and looked new, with a powerful shower. All areas of the hotel were clean and nicely decorated. We didn't use the bar downstairs but seemed nice. Buffet breakfast in the morning was very nice with a good choice of hot and cold food. Served until 11 on a Sunday which is ideal when you're taking it easy.. Our window looked out over the street and it was a Saturday night so it was a bit noisy at times. We would want to be away from the street next time but it wasn't as bad as other places we've stayed. We've lived in Germany and speak German so weren't really bothered by the choice on TV choice but other travellers may find the channels a bit limited, with only CNN in English and all others German. They have underground parking which we used just 25m from the hotel entrance. We could leave the car there for a few hours after check out so were able to spend Sunday wandering around town and at the Carolus Thermen mineral baths (a must-do for Aachen!). Would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Aachen. Many beautiful landmarks are located within walking distance as are restaurants and nightclubs. We were pleased with the multilingual staff. Free internet access is available in the lobby and the breakfeast we had was outstanding. I would highly recommend a room away from the street on a Friday night. We did get a lot of street noise until the early morning hours but it was the first night of the Christamas lights for the city. Maybe a normal Friday would be different. Do not miss the spa located near the cassino. It's about a twenty/thirty minute walk from the hotel and is one of the highlights of our thirteen days in western Europe. This hotel was priced right through Expedia and the spa is a bargin campared to the others I have visited.

an ok hotelPosted Oct 8, 2006
This hotel is a bit expensive for a three star property, but it is well located for the tourist who wishes to walk around and visit Aachen's points of interest. It is also near good restaurants and shopping. I was disappointed that some of the things that were listed as hotel perks were not available. For example, no bar in the hotel, no mini-bar in the room, twin bed rooms are actually a double bed with two duvets, at least my room was even though I paid for a twin. Rooms are somewhat small, but bathroom is good. We enjoyed our stay, but felt it was a bit pricey for what you actually get.
