Terrible smell in bathroom and had to change rooms. By end of our stay there was beginning to be a smell in the second bathroom and lid of toilet had to remain closed - a problem with the sewers probably. Cleanliness was poor and there was a noise issue at night - inadequate sound proofing. Breakfast was adequate but with the other issues we were not tempted to eat in the restaurant. Location was good but would not stay here again. Advertised as a 4 star hotel but only worth 3 at the most.

Stayed for a night. Staff at the front desk were friendly and warm. Service was efficient. Restaurant closed for dinner but open for breakfast. Breakfast buffet was generous. There’s a lift once you’re inside the foyer. Worst thing about this hotel was the small ensuite and awful toilet paper, but it has been as bad or worse nearly everywhere in Scandinavia.

Good location and comfortable stay
We had a good stay at this hotel. Breakfast could have been better but it was okay. Hotel location is really nice and surrounded by farms. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Smallest bathroom in the world, Don't stay here.
Smallest bathroom in the world. Water ran either boiling hot or cold. The bathroom floor was uneven and i tripped and cut my toe open, that was fun. The toilet was pressed up to the shower, JUST RIDICULOUSLY SMALL. This was not a cheap hotel, it cost well over $200 CND to stay here. Room was small and cramped, no fridge and the staff seemed totally indifferent to its patrons. I dont recommend this place at all, its in a good location, but there are a lot of other hotels in the area, choose one of those.

Dear Diane,Thank you for your review of our hotel.I'm sorry to hear that the bathroom wasn't to your liking.We know our bathrooms are not the biggest since we are an old building which originally didn't have bathrooms in each room.Since our rooms are very different from each other, I would recommend contacting if you come again, then we will make sure a room with a nice and big bathroom is given to you. We will take a look at the water as it sounds like the mixing battery needs changing.Regarding the fridge, then it's a conscious choice from our side as we aim to be as friendly to the environment as possible.About the staff then it hurts to hear that they seem indifferent. A perfect option for business and pleasure
Scandic The Mayor is one of those hotels that looks like a local institution. Its location is literally between the railway station and the town hall, in the heart of the city (most transport lines connect in front of it). It has a stately shape and the rooms did not disappoint: my wife and I got a superb corner room facing the town hall fountain, iconic tower and park, and the street. The room was wide, with enough space (apart from a wide double bed) for a padded reading corner, table with TV and working space, and a tea table with two stylish leather armchairs. Plus storage space. A large, practical bathroom complemented the room. Simple, Scandi furnishings, with dignified lines and sturdy materials. Free tea and coffee in the room. No minibar / fridge though (perhaps the only minus). Breakfast was a good spread including muesli/granola, sandwich ingredients, eggs, pastries and fruit, plus tea/ coffee/ juices (including self-press for oranges). The breakfast restaurant is a Michelin-starred establishment in the evening. They also have a paid-for mini-shop with toiletries and snacks. Perhaps toiletries not stuck to the wall would have added to the atmosphere, although I appreciated the quality and brand (FACE). Overall, we had an absolutely great stay, in a large dignified, well-designed room, and with good breakfast during a busy business trip. If I have the chance, I will surely return!

Bathroom very small and everything gets wet when you shower. Ordered room with king size but apparently over booked. Breakfast was amazing and very tasteful.

The hotel is advertised as a 4 star, but to me comparatively speaking is a 1 star. Lift out of order, still trying how the little shower can be reached, and no dark curtains. Light from the street easily come through. The only positive, is their breakfast is good and it's centrally located. My last visit.

We are a very old hotel, and some of our rooms are smaller than others, which the category 'single economy' and price also says. Even some of these rooms didn't even had their own bathrooms many years ago. Next time you are in Aarhus, I hope you will try one of our others categories, which some of them are a lot bigger than usual hotel rooms in Aarhus. Regarding the curtains, we would gladly have moved you to another room, if you had let us know. I hope we wil be able to welcome you another time here in Aarhus. leasant stay in Aahaus
Very nice hotel and comfy bed. Very close to the train station and shopping centre with retail and food available. The city centre is a 5 minute walk away where there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Overall a very pleasant stay :)
