Mediocre hotel stuck in a time-warpPosted Jun 27, 2014
Pros: Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful (except for the non-Scottish East Europeans)
Cons: Decor, maintenance, overall food quality and choice, background music.
Location: In a housing estate location with little obvious choice of things to do if not independently mobile
This is a very disappointing hotel to stay in, in a city that seems to be able to charge whatever it likes for hotels during the week due to huge demand. The food is good (conservative), but orders are taken slowly. The decor is dark, dreary, dull and very outdated. The background music in the restaurant and bar is primarily based on 1950's American crooner stuff, but at least it is at low volume. The public rooms lack natural light, and the dark decorations exacerbate this. It all looks very tired, with a lot of un-repaired cosmetic damage and missing stuff. The bedrooms are OK, but again the decor is dark and dreary and the windows are small, with unappealing views of the local housing estates. Beds are comfortable. My bathroom looked recently refurbished with white tiles, and a good rain-head shower. Noise transmission from other rooms and the corridor can be a problem. The hotel lies almost directly under the flight path into and out of Aberdeen airport which leads to intermittent noise problems. Cooked breakfasts can be poor with an emphasis on ingredients dripping in oil from frying. Disappointing to find no porridge on the menu in Scotland! Alex Polizzi would have a field day in this place!!

Another Business Trip.Posted Jun 20, 2014
Didn't really use the facilities in the Hotel, the room was very good and free Internet. Bathroom clean with a good shower. There was a good choice for breakfast.

Not bad.Posted May 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Quite a good little hotel. Close to the airport and relatively cheap. Rooms were small but were finished to a high standard. The restaurant was really good too. No problem recommending.

I was staying here whilst visiting my sister at the near by maternity hospital. I booked a suite for myself and my fiancée and I have to admit it was great. We were politley welcomed at reception and check in was very quick. The hotel is very clean throughout and the room was spotless. Very comfy bed and lots of room in the Gleneagles suite which was great. We had dinner in the restaurant which has nice decor and the food was great. Only criticism I have is our server's English wasn't great so we struggled to get drinks but she was very polite and this didn't ruin the stay or meal. The bar lounge area is very comfortable and welcoming which was ace at the end of a loooong drive. Overall I would recommend this hotel and will certainly stay again

Comfortable stayPosted Apr 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
I've stayed here a few times before, staff are always helpful, rooms clean and the food good. This time I had a room at the front of the hotel and found the noise from the planes and helicopters louder than usual, they don't fly all night which is a bonus.
