Awful experience

I paid via Expedia in full for a room with 2 queen beds. When we arrived at the start of check in time, we were told "Sorry ma'am, but we received some unexpected reservations." I insisted that I receive a room with 2 queen beds because that is what I already paid for. After speaking with her manager, she came back 10 minutes later & changed our room to one with 2 queens, but not without attitude & frustration, saying that someone is going to have to be downgraded today. I said that if the room wasn't actually open back when I made reservations, then perhaps it shouldn't be listed for me to reserve. She said Expedia reservations dump into their system last & they can't promise we will get what we want when the day comes. Room itself was a basic room. 2 queen beds & enough towels for two people. Breakfast standard hotel issue. Had fridge, microwave, TV. Liked the window bench seat. Upon check out, they insisted on running my credit card "in case there are incidentals." Once I got home, I noticed on my credit card that they had in fact charged me for the room again when running my card at check out. Called back to the hotel, a gentleman on the phone stated that this is standard procedure. I demanded the amount be credited to my card as I had already paid in full through Expedia and they get their money from them. He said he could not do that. I have never booked & paid in full with Expedia, then been charged again for the full amount by the hotel itself.

All was good except the hair.

Over hotel was great. However our friends when checking into their room found it wasn't cleaned at all and had to go back down to desk and get new room. Our room was pretty clean. The room checker isn't doing their job very well because we found hair all over the counters, tub, couch, and in our clean sheets on the bed. Our friends found it to be the same in their room. Other then that the place was great.

Me and my wifes stay was great. We stay there at least once a year for the Country Christmas bazaar at the fair grounds. Always a relaxing and great stay at this hotel.

Booked Kitchenette, got small room

Pros: I really like the location and the breakfast is good.
Cons: Staff and honor of requests of online booking
I arrived after a full day of work and 3 hour drive and checked in. Went to room to find I was given a small room with no fridge or microwave, which was specifically asked for. I went back down and asked and she told me that was what I had - but I checked my reservation and it was for a kitchenette - she told me no and besides it would cost more - not like they had a full parking lot. She said that people typically will call direct, but I had booked online. I really only wanted the fridge to place my food and ice packs - really needed the ice packs after being on the road all day. I was very surprised as I have stayed here several times over the past few years for benefit fairs and have always received what I requested and the staff has always been great.
