Wine bar opposite hotel partying till 2am. Windows are old single glazed sash type, did nothing to dull the noise. So if in a Union Gardens facing room, be prepared to be kept awake. Staff were excellent, as was breakfast. Room was spotless. Just the noise. Would stay again but would be sure to get a room to the rear of the property without a view.

The property is very dated and the noise at night was terrible. Very hard to sleep. Also the room was cold. I think they need to invest in d0uble or triple glazing.

Good
Room is very amazing, I don’t had great night sleep because street light so very bright thank you street light got led lol. I can’t complain by hotel and I enjoy room and so relax room for me. Staff is so friendly only arrive.

Birthday stay
This was part of a birthday trip for my husband. The staff were absolutely wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is in a fantastic location but is a bit tired and in need of a good overhaul. Despite this we had a great time and thank the Caledonian Hotel very much.

An old Aberdeen hotel which has maintained high standards. Nice lounge area & very good food. Tiny car park is a problem

Room was OK. Disappointing view into inner yard. No view other than brick wall. Yard acts a noise tunnel and enhances sound especially the drainage when neighbours use shower. Walls not so well sound proof, could hear everything from our neighbours. Hotel could do with some tlc. Over then that our room was clean and well equipped. We would stay again but ask for room facing front (terrace)

The location in the City Centre is great, though the poor state of cleanliness of the surrounding area affects the otherwise great experience. The hotel staff is great, the breakfast is acceptable and the rooms are adequate for a short city stay.

Lovely and traditional
Nice overnight stay, lovely old original, traditional hotel, i love it. Rooms are larger than normal hotel rooms but everything was clean, tidy and comfortable. The room was very hot during the night but we were supplied with a quiet running fan cooler. Shower and bathroom were good and well supplied. Stayed many times before on a night out in Aberdeen and will definitely stay again.

Disappointing
Disappointed with our stay. Room was very old and distressed. Not at all like pictures on web page. Old veneered furniture old very uncomfortable bed. Chair in room was old and dirty looking as was carpet. Heating was on full in middle of summer and no option to turn off or down. Fan was in room definitely not eco friendly was far too hot. Not as advertised which is a shame as beautiful building in fab location with so much potential.

Good idea to include instructions in the bathroom as to how to use the shower as I had difficulty getting from the overhead shower to tge hand held attachment.

Good hotel with brilliant staff
Staying as visiting sick family member in ARI. Bus stop to hospital outside the hotel. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. I was given v nice room overlooking Terrace Gardens. Room spacious with big bathroom. Comfortable bed. I only had food one evening but good menu choice and enjoyed my meal.

This property is old and hasn't seen a rennovztion in decades. Light fixtures dangling, uneven flooring, old worn carpeting. Food found on under the bed. Food and service are awful. I would not re ommend this hotel to anyone.

I was disappointed as i have stayed in 3star hotels rhat are in better condition the room was nothing like pictures on app it looked like it could have done with being painted carpet looked finished had creases in it not what you would expect from a 4 star. I also found the car park was not great and the fact you had to pay was not good i wouldnt go back to hotel again .

WARNING!!! THIS HOTEL IS VERY STUFFY AND VERY LOUD - IF YOU STAY HERE IN THE SUMMER EXPECT TO GET NO SLEEP. This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had, with only the next stay I had at another Mercure Hotel being worse. First, the hotel advertises itself as four stars, which may have been true the last time it was updated in the 1980s. it's a very old very dated, two star at best hotel. The amenities were pathetic - the pillows on the bed were each ~1 inch thick. there were two extra pillows of the same dubious quantity in the closet - if you folded two pillows in half, they almost made one real pillow. I've seen hostels with better bed setups than this "four star" hotel had. It was really warm in Aberdeen when we were there, and the hotel has no ventilation. the windows open ~2 inches. the hotel provided us what was called a "cyclone fan" which was so far from accurate, it was almost funny. A mouse blowing air through a straw would have generated more air than that fan. In addition, the hotel is across the river from a club/bar that stayed open past midnight. It's incredibly loud; even if we'd not had the window open, we couldn't have slept. this might be an okay hotel if they updated it and invested in some ventilation. as it stands, it's old, gross and so loud you won't sleep.
