We live in Abu Dhabi, so it's only a short one-hour drive to Al Ain. The Mercure is another 20 minutes from the centre of town up an 8km winding road that will absolutely take your breath away !!! The hotel is clean and well-staffed, we were met at the door and they waited with our bags while we checked-in. The lobby is impressively large and airy with long green vines growing down the 40+foot-high walls. The bell-boy brought our things to the room right behind us and made sure we were happy with the accommodations. We had a deluxe double room which was comfortable and quite clean. The balcony was so small as to beg the question "Why bother" but at least it afforded a nice view of the pool area and the surrounding territory. Since we were there for just two nights mid-week and off the peak season, we had the hotel virtually to ourselves. Despite this, all the facilities were open with plenty of staff to serve our every need.
The bars and restaurants are clean and reasonably quick. The menu is sufficiently varied and the prices are decent. Room service is also available although we didn't try it.
If you're looking for a great place to relax and kick back, this is a great choice. Be advised, however, it's like staying on an island get-away due to it's distance from town and it's isolation up on the top of the mountain. Bring a good book and unplug for a few days. You'll love the view and the clean, dry mountain air.

Having had to make the trip to Abu Dhabi for a consular visit, this hotel was located at a great place. It's quite easy to access from the airport and is convenient to the diplomatic section in Abu Dhabi. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted and the staff took good care of our bags so we could tend to checking in and watching after our young kids. They did not have the room I'd reserved ready when we arrived, but as we planned to get lunch anyway it really was no big deal. They had it ready in about 30 minutes and made the phone call to inform me.
I had requested a crib/bassinet in the room, and although it was not there when we reached the room, a quick call to housekeeping resolved it. A nice young Nepalese fellow brought it and sheets for the sofa bed so our kids had good sleeping accommodations.
I would describe the room as a bit on the small side for the price, and the options on the TV left something to be desired. However, that's not why I was there anyway. The only other thing I'd point out is that the kids' play area was a little uninspiring. Could have had a bit more to it. Otherwise, I'd call it a decent place to stay.
