The worst Sheraton I stayed in

Posted Jul 5, 2013
Pros: Very old hotel without any upgrades. Sheraton should pull the name from it
Cons: Every thing inside rooms. Chairs, bathroom, wardrobe, electricity, a/c & it's control, room door, tv channels, veranda door, bathroom roof, ...etc.
Location: Nothing. No one gave me anything, nor there is a tv channel guide to where to go or do or what the hotel have
Lower rating hotel than any hotel I stayed in. Value I payed doesn't worth the hotel Rooms are old, furniture bad, bathroom fixtures are old and broken. I had to protest to hotel to change my room from BEFORE ages room to one could be tolerated. If I didn't pay beforehand through Expedia, I would cancell immediately. I don't recommended to anyone

Even Basil Fawlty wouldn't want to stay here...

Posted May 8, 2013
My airport transfer, although booked and confirmed (twice) was a no-show but luckily a colleague on the same flight had booked a private car which did materialise so I just jumped in with her. Arrived at the hotel in the early hours and was given my room even though I wasn't booked in until that night which was a nice surprise. Well, it was nice until I reached my room. The decor was old and tired looking - the only thing really going for this room was the comfortable beds. My shower would turn on, but not off (that took an engineer to sort) then my safe wouldn't open so again, an engineer was called and finally, after the first two successful entries, my room lock would no longer open with my key so I had to be accompanied by a porter EVERY time I wanted to get back inside. Nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. The Mastercard machine wasn't working upon my departure which meant that some reception staff were claiming check-out was not possible in-person until someone pointed out the Visa machine was working and all cards could be put through that. Honestly, this hotel is a place that even Basil Fawlty would find difficult to comprehend. Next time, I'll be back staying in the Transcorp Hilton. It may be far more expensive but at least you are getting [slightly] more for your money with all the leisure facilities and restaurant choices there and the internet connection won't kick you out every five minutes as it did here.

it shouldn't be rated a five star hotel.

Posted Mar 30, 2013
Pros: I like the boathouse
Cons: dirty room
first off, I thought sheraton was suppose to be a five star hotel? I was disappointed with the services the hotel has lost its looks and when I asked a staff he said, they keep changing management and hiring cheap labour. no clubs anymore, the elephant bar which was once there and relaxing us gone. I had to call them to vacuum the rug in the room as it wad dusty and stained, the curtains were dirty and stuffy. not what you exactly expect from a five star hotel.

Horrible Service

Posted Feb 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hi there - The hotel was nice but the check in process and service was the worst I have ever experienced. At first they did not have my room, then they found one but check in took hours at the front desk. I will never stay there again. No hot water either - Definitely not up to normal Sheraton standards.

underwhelming and no air conditioning !!

Posted Feb 24, 2013
Pros: location and security
Cons: expensive, generally poor service and inoperable air conditoning
recent business trip to Abuja. the hotel is old, worn and rather expensive, but passable. we had 2 rooms booked and while one of the rooms was adequate, the second room had no working air conditioning. although we spoke to the staff at least a half dozen times, it was either ignored or they were incapable to fix the problem. one can only imagine with an outside temperature at or near 100 degrees that the room itself could best be described as an oven. the options in Abuja are somewhat limited and while I would not recommend the Sheraton, I am not sure of a better choice when considering security and mid town access, the service is poor the rooms are in need of more than a little TLC. I think they know choices are few and are slow to make improvements that have been promised for years. I will look at other hotels next trip before I settle on this one.

Excellent security, but in need of renovation

Posted Feb 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very tired out hotel from the 1970s in need of serious renovations in the rooms. Public areas good; good pool and gym. Really a 3 star hotel, but half the price on the Hilton, so excellent value for money.
