Hilton Addis

Really old furniture looks like a very old out dated Hilton. They provide Tea/Coffee in the room but no milk..even on request.

Satisfactory

Posted Sep 15, 2013
Pros: Staff were friendly and it felt safe.
Cons: Definitely more and regular investment by hotel overall maintenance and perhaps redecorating - the Hilton standard should be maintained!
Location: Location is good! Close to UN building
I've always stayed at Hilton, Addis but this time was disappointed at overall condition of the rooms which in my view has lacked overall maintenance over the years. The condition of the bathroom was poor by Hilton standards - leaking water under washbasin, hair dryer looked like old small mini Hoover and bathtub discoloured. The wifi was great and fast but would have expected it to be free given high cost of accommodation. The staff were really friendly and room service efficient. Electricity went off two nights but generator worked but tv had to automatically tune for about 5 mins before channels come back on. Lastly, if you're a light sleeper then take ear plugs cause noise quite audible from closing doors, cupboards and conversations/noise from next room.

Overpriced and dated

Posted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: The pizza restaurant and grounds
Cons: It needs a refurb. I didn't like the smoky atmosphere in the lobby.
Location: Within walking distance of a number of the key tourist sites in Addis
The hotel is quite dated - it has the potential to very nice, but is currently overpriced for what it is. I have stayed i some fantastic hotels for the same / less money

Showing it's age

Posted Jul 31, 2013
Pros: Nice bars, especially by the pool. Good restaurant especially the Italian section.
Cons: Rooms need refurbishment, especially bathrooms. Upgrade the internet and wireless should be standard in every room, especially given the price!!
Hotel is in need of a refurbishment with bathrooms looking tired. Internet is expensive and poor with only some rooms covered by wireless. However, staff are very good and it has a good restaurant and other facilities but with a number of new hotels opening around it there are better choices for the money.

Well taken care of...

Pros: The hot spring pool brought me back to life.
Cons: It's a little aged, but it added character.
Location: It's in the centre of town but a little far from shops and restaurants. Taxis, which I did not enjoy, were over-priced and necessary.
The staff at the Hilton in Addis Ababa could not have been more delightful. After a bout of illness, my health and well being were of utmost concern for the staff. I was allowed to check-in early free of charge, which made all the difference after a long flight. The pool was spectacular (don't be fooled by the aging facility), the beds were comfy and the complex had everything I needed. The travel agent and Ethiopian Airlines counter were a welcomed sight.

Convenient and dependable

Although a bit dated the Hilton Addis Ababa meets the requirements of a business traveller. Its location and facilities make it a good place for business meetings and the buzz in the evenings make it a good place to stay for a few nights.

Urban Oasis

Posted Apr 14, 2013
Pros: The grounds and staff.
Cons: The general condition of the buildings.
Location: In the heart of Addis, great location.
The grounds are like an urban park. The plants and trees are mature and well maintained. The staff in among the best of any Hilton Hotel or Resort I have stayed in throughout the world. They treat you like family. The hotel is in need of renovation and I hope the ownership and management will mandate an upgrade. The hotel is a jewel of Addis Ababa and deserves tender loving care.
