“Excellent Location”
Quiet for a downtown hotel; comfortable. Carpet, especially in common areas, needs replacement. Close to restaurants, shopping, nightlife. Reasonable value.
“Not sure if I would go back.”
The reception staff were very nice and eficient. When we walked into our room it appeared very basic but clean. The beds need replacing because of wear on the springs. I was glad it was winter because the air conditioner in our room was totally broken and needs to be replaced. On the day we arrived we didn't have any shampoo, conditioner or soap in the bathroom. This was rectified on day 2.
“Oldie but a goodie is you are a heavy sleeper.”
The hotel was older but very comfortable and extremely roomy. The noise from outside at night, however, was disturbing. There was no way to stop the yahooing etc from waking you. First night was the worst and then we started to get used to it. The staff are excellent and helpful.
“Nice Hotel for the Money”
Considering the low price you pay to stay here, this hotel is actually quite a good value. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel itself is perfectly nice (if rather spartan.) I think the best thing about the hotel was the staff - without exception, everyone I dealt with at the hotel was friendly, conscientious, and very, very helpful. The location of the hotel, however is rather a mixed bag. On the one hand, it's very centrally located - downtown Adelaide is a convenient, short walk away, and it's only about 15 minutes away from the airport by shuttle or taxi, On the other hand, it's on a street which is pretty notorious for its partying. The weeknights I was at the hotel, this was fine, but on the Friday and Saturday nights I was there, there was really loud partying going on until 5 in the morning. So if you're traveling on a weekend, and sleep is a priority, I'd recommend staying in another neighborhood - but nonetheless, the hotel itself was very nice, and overall I'd recommend it!
“Super convenient”
The neighborhood is a little "racy" with "pokies" and "girls girls girls" lining Hindley Street, but it's very convenient to the cultural/government institutions and botanical gardens. The rooms were better than basic, clean, good size. A bit noisy late at night due to pub proximity, but quite nice overall. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's tucked a bit anonymously into an alley and the lobby is very modest, but it was definitely a good deal and we enjoyed both nights we spent there.
“Very disappointing.”
This was a dirty hotel. The carpet hadn't been cleaned in ages. It was dark, dank, and seedy. The owners tried to liven it up by having a small minibar in the room, but everything about the place said "cheap" and "bargain basement" hotel. I compared the image on the brochure and website and to figure out how I could have been so misled. Avoid at all costs. It was so depressing I moved after two nights, forfeiting the money I paid for five days in advance!
“Disappointed.”
This hotel has seen better days. Their spirit was willing but their product was weak.
